The preservation system they use at Otto probably puts them right up there, but it's unfortunate they are limited in their selection to one distributor.
Maneo has a good list at great prices, but again, limited to one distributor.
Epicure, nice but all Frog wines. |

Might not have the largest wine list or best selection but it does what it sets out to do well. Reasonably priced wines by the bottle, a nice atmosphere and overall a great wine venue. |

Ah, yeah, Enoteca. Very nice. Great prices. Would just like to see them with a better variety. There is nothing from Aus/NZ yet. |

the fact that they have only vine from one place could be the same that happened to my boss when i was in shanghyai
for the best price "montrose" wanted to sign an exclusive contract with them but "asc" did not and my boss did not want to have eclusive contract.
may be it is one of the reason "have the best price but you buy only from me"
what do you think??? |

exactly my point. Of course it is because they sign a contract. which is fine for a small place, but when wine is a key business, you cannot do it. |

if i were a wine place, meanig i need a real selection of the best wines, i would never allow myself to be put in a position of not being able to offer a betrter wine because my distributor sucked...errr, I mean didn't carry it. Montrose, ASC, Summergate, RubyRed and a few other distributors combined supply my personal cellar and taste via various sources and if I had a commercial application for the wines, i'd likely use all of them too. |

exactly mate, but you would be suprise how many people sign a fixed contract just to make a short term gain. |

yes many people sign contract to have the best price on some wines for 1 year and then the pirce goes up but since they signed already they are stuck with the contract because then when the other distributors find out they want to live because of the prie increase then they also play the game works both ways.
so no contract then you are free to use who ever when ever because sometimes new vines and new selections does not arrive at the one you signed with ............... then you can not get it too bad for the guys that sign. |

Check out indalo, well priced and something like 20 wines by the glass |

I'd put Otto up there for wine by the glass (although their whites could be a little colder, especially in this weather).
Enoteca is ok. More than one country, but only one wine company. They source and bottle themselves. Very limited, you are right.
I think for range and price, Maneo is hard to beat. The best deal in town is the 270rmb or so per bottle of Leeuwin Estate Art Series Riesling. Twice that price in a number of other places around town. |
