Import them through Play-Asia. My friends got their legit copies of GTA4 on monday. Make sure you check the region and PAL/NTSC-J/NTSC-U requirements of each game before you order.

3rd play through!?? I'm on my 1st but I try to do all the side quest and up to 40+ hours already. I personally feel the game is good but VERY overrated by the press. People say its the next evolution in RGP... its innovated in some ways, but I had more fun with Kingdom Hearts 1!
Is the game different enough on each play thought using different careers?
Yeah a bit of what kuldaen said, but here's how it went:
1st playthrough: normal difficulty, did all but one side-quest, played as Vanguard, choosing mostly the paragon options
2nd playthrough: continue with my previous character, hardcore difficulty, did all the side quests, choosing mostly renegade options
And what happened was I got really disappointed in the second playthrough because though I was super high level (50-59) all the items became repetitive and I yearned for richer exploration options (the non-plotline worlds are so barren).
Then I decided to go Soldier, choose a chick this time, and it was "fresh" enough to play again. It's awesome to finally be able to use the assault rifle and sniper rifle after being stuck with only pistol and shotgun for, say, 100 hours of my previous two playthroughs. Of course, by now I know most of the things to do so I even set the difficulty at Insanity and it's easily manageable. Mostly because the soldier class is nearly invincible when you have good armor and Immunity on all the time. Also, I now make it a mini quest for myself to collect all the Colossus X armor for my whole team, lol
The game is really enjoyable, but man parts of it really ticks me off. Like the stupid inventory system, which has a 150 item limit and does not group the same items together. Kinda forces you to micromanage the inventory after like every major battle.

I have read through bits and pieces of this post, trying to understand how copied games work.
I wanted to bring some games to a friend in the US as a gift. Since they bought and play their Xbox in the US, I am assuming it isn't "chipped." Does this mean they wouldn't be able to play any copies I buy in Shanghai?

Your friend's US xbox will not play any copied games unless the machine is chipped. (I have a US one, and it didn't play) And if you have a chipped box, it will play the newer legit games.

had the demo for the ps3. hated it. hope they make a new battlefront, that was a good one !
recently playing dead rising again and gave saints row a proper look not that the 2nd one is coming out soon...still bugs me though that i can't manage to get it online

I gave Mercenaries 2 a go as well. Good fun, crapped myself laughing getting "The Devestator" in the beginning. Glad I did not listen to the reviews, but also happy I did not fork out more than 6 RMB for it. Nowhere as good as the original , but still good entertainment for a couple of hours

Mercenaries 2 So far lots of fun. It's a long game and gets better as the story progresses.
If you have it and like shoot 'em ups give it a longer try. Once you recruit your staff - helicopter pilot, jet pilot, and mechanic you have lots of fun blowing everything up...

Has anyone spotted NHL09, pirate or original, anywhere? Being a hockey fan and reading the reviews this seems to be a must have but it is impossible to find like NHL08 last year.

There is a shop on Beijing Lu, right behind Jing An Temple who carried all Hockey Games last year. Found NHL 08 and others there. He usually has new Games pretty fast on sale. I think this would be your safest bet. I usually go there quit often so I can leave a message here if I find it. Absolut Hockey nut myself. Looking forward to another season starting on October 5th - GO OILERS. If you want original order from www.play-asia.com . If you can wait til October 18th I can get it from Canada for you if you want original

Enjoyed Dead Space - Turn the LIGHTS OFF and put on some headphones.
Never liked GoW, so can't see me paying £35 for GoW2.
Far Cry 2 looks amazing but travelling around is a pain in the arse, glad I just rented it in the UK.
Fallout 3 is a great RPG - and of course has Qui-Gon Jinn/Rā's al Ghūl
One for you racer's - MotoGP 08 - Great handling, speed & tracks.
Short gamespan & Bloody hard
