SHANGHAI plans to set aside more rooms in busy transport hubs for breastfeeding mothers to suckle their babies within two or three years in response to a proposal from Shanghai Women's Federation.
Shanghai Pudong Airport is building waiting rooms for breastfeeding moms in its second terminal building, while Hongqiao Airport plans to set up such rooms in the expanded section of its western terminal.
Shanghai Long Distance Bus Station will set up shields and screens to provide some private space for mothers and infants. Separated waiting rooms are expected to be built in future long-haul bus stations.
An eye-catching logo will guide mothers to breastfeeding rooms in Metro stations, said the Metro line management authority.
Such waiting rooms will also be set up in bus stations and hubs, said the local public transport department.
Shanghai Railway Station and Shanghai South Railway Station have already set up waiting rooms with facilities for mothers and infants. |

About time there was some consideration in this regard.
How about 'nappy' changing facilities for baby's in the main shopping malls ?
The general state of most public toliets excludes me using them, let alone a quick 'nappy' change for the Babbu.
So if you ever spy some 'crazies' changing Babbu's 'nappy' in mid air, it is not some new circus act in town......just us !
Seriously, for SH being such a modern city with grand malls, why are the toilet facilities in such a reltively poor state ? |
