| Post subject: Where can a blues guitarist find a gig? |
Hi,
I'm a blues guitar player from the U.S. coming to Shanghai sometime in October. I was hoping to possibly arrange some sort of short performance in a club, coffeeshop, or someplace. I have a set that I can do solo on acoustic guitar for about 45 minutes. I can also play electric and love having a drummer to join me, but I would need loaner equipment for that.
Anyway, I was just searching the net to see what I could find and came across this site. I could benefit from some names of possible venues. Any help would be appreciated and we'll buy some drinks for you too if a show happens and you come, haha.
You can hear my music on myspace, it's rtrippblues. I sing and play slide in a blues rock style. All original music.
Thanks |

C'mon now. Isn't there anyone with some idea of a slightly gritty bar that has live music? Not too upscale, not too dumpy? Maybe they don't exist there? Seems to be plenty of places for suits to go have a drink. What about the average casual guy who likes good ol' rock and blues?
Any info would help me out. I just want to play a gig since I'll be there on a business trip. What performer wouldn't like to do a show in china? |

House of Blues and Jazz used to have a jam night on Sundays. Haven't been there for a while, so don't know if they still do, but this is a reputable establishment. |

Cotton Club for sure. They do an open mic on Tuesdays for pros (all you KTV regulars forget about it). You can talk to Matt or Greg there. PM me for an e-mail address.
At Bubba's we have a couple guys that play on Saturday nights. Just two wired acoustic guitars but heck, we'd love to have you sit in. It's a fun bar too.
I'm from Austin so appreciate a good set of blues.
