My 2 year old sleeps in a queen size bed. I put several pillows around her so that will give her a little protection. So far has work good for us. |

We have a similar one we brought over from Australia and it works fine here in SH. You'll only need one if you have your bed against the wall. It is designed to fasten to the top mattress, we have a standard SH bed and no problem so far. |

we fold up a think blanket and put it at the side of the bed, we also use pillows. Found that a few falls and the kid start to learn. |

Toys R Us has gates for doorways and such, as does Ikea. Also seen at the Baby market at PuAn Rd near Huang Pi Rd and JingLing Rd. |

You can use pillows and a thick blanket as some people advised above.

Yu, are you scared that the pillow could be dangerous ? You should put the pillows UNDER the bedspread, and tuck the bedsheet in, that way the pillows dont move even if the kid kicks it away - thats what kids do all the time.
If you put the bed to the wall, and put up pillows, but are still scared about them rolling off, you can just put thick quilts on the floor, so that if they do roll off they will fall on them, the quilts cushion the fall.

Saw some gates in Ikea last time I was there - 299 rmb for the wooden one and 399 for the metal one, the display was on a door, so not sure this is what you want.. you could check their website maybe. |

All,
Thank you for the inputs. Will bring over to SH the bed rail we already have. If the bed rail does not work, will try the pillow under bedspread option. |

Be thankful that you weren't looking for this stuff 5 years ago! I had to drag it all up from HK. |

nah, toddler Yu just has a tendency to sit up in the middle of his sleep and then fall over a differnt direction. This is why he sleeps in the crib over night, but getting him to nap there has been impossible so far... sometimes we just let him sleep on a floor mattress that he plays on and gets fed on with mom but he still likes the middle of the bed best. Oh well. So no, pillows dont scare us, he's had them ever since he was little, even when they were not supposed to have them but seeing that he has always been able to lift his head from day one, its not been a fear on our part, we just keep a close eye on him though. |

As for me. As long as my daughter sleep, I sleep too! That's why she will never get a chance to fall. Haha...what a good excuse. |

^ you mean you are the shape of a donut and can encompass her entirely? It would take both me and my wife to be sleeping on either side of our son to keep him from falling off. |
