Also I haven't found the way to download podcasts

Hi,

I brought i phone last week from you US. Who can recommend somebody to make sim crack and jailbreak in Shanghai. I do stay close to HK Plaza, so if everybody knows a guy there to do this job, would be great.

Thanks and rgds

@Fritzone

You can do it yourself -
Download 1.1.1 from Apple
Downgrade to 1.1.1
Jailbreak (follow the instructions on the website)
Run Octoprep
Upgrade to 1.1.2
Jailbreak again.

Check www.unlock.no for details and downloads or iphone.fiveforty.net/wiki

You'll need a turbosim or similar to use the phone after jailbreak though.
(They're about 200rmb)

Have fun!

Do you know is it's possible to send MMS with Iphone?
I have one, with my ChinaMobile card, and my GPRS is active.
They say that with Iphone you can send MMS if you type the number of the recipient @operator.com

means something like 13188888888@chinamobile.com, does anyone knows the exact adress after @ for china mobile?

Thanks in advance

iPhone doesn't do MMS (natively), assuming you are using something like SwirlyApp, then usually its the same settings as GPRS for the most part

MMSC: mmsc.monternet.com
Proxy: 10.0.0.172
APN: cmwap
Username: cmwap

Some discussion here -

I bought my ORIGINAL, unlocked, 16gb 3g iPhone 3 weeks ago at the HK plaza in huai hai lu for rmb 5700. It worked fine from day 1 and I havent encountered any problems so far. It is such a cool piece of equipment but its just not me so I am considering to sell it. Any interested parties may sms or call me at 13901829285.

At this days i has check for one Treo 750 (2 weeks USA open box) for 1200 RMB. The seller also have used IPhones for 3000 RMB. I has try to handle it - it is really hard.

So, my next phone will be a treo 750 or HTC.

Treo 750? I personally won't get it. My husband has used Palm for as long as Palm has been around. Treo 750 was the last straw that made him change to Blackberry. We bought the first 750 about 16 months ago with a warranty in US. We had to exchange it for 3 times since then because the device just dies on us without a reason. The only advantage we see in the 750 is that it works in Japan. But it's bulky and slow, has terrible sound quality and drops calls A LOT.

Blackberries are so far superior to Treo's it is ridiculous. if you want touch screen get ipod although personally I find Blackberries to make better phones (for emailing, texting, etc) because of the qwerty keyboard. Typing on an iphone is a pain. still it's a super cool gadget and the app store is a big draw - I got an ipod touch mostly just for app store stuff.

Russianbear - where did you see the used iphones?

and has anyone ever tried taobao? I see 3500-4000rmb for the 8gb 3G phones, but I don't need 3g, and I'm a little wary buying anything on taobao more than 50rmb

I seen it on phone market in other city, not in Shanghai. But i guess it have on every phone market in China. You just need ask locals about popular phone market in your location , go and check. Also a lot of Blackberry and Treo in sale, new* and second hand.

* USA open boxes.

Nearby the Shanghai Railway Station are two phone malls. According to my Chinese colleagues this is the cheapest place to but a phone. They are located at Tianmu Xi Lu, one is on the left of Pacific Shopping Mall, the other one just opposite.
