| Post subject: Question about SAP |
So here I am at the crossroads so to say... I am debating whether to leave China to head back to the US for work or try to make things work out. I am just not sure how much work I can find with my software toolset. I have been a Powerbuilder developer for 8 years before my little 2 year break in Shanghai and Beijing. But when I look at jobs for SAP devs there are so many high paying jobs, and not nearly enough people to fill them all.
So here is my question, how can I get in to the world of SAP? Can I do it in China or would I have to go back to the US. Does anyone know if they make CBT courses for SAP. |

Not sure what CBT is but its rather obvious, you should look for SAP jobs, even taking a pay cut so that you can gain some experience. They are plenty of technical (is that still called ABAP?) people here, not that expensive, but China lacks project managers and people with both functional and industrial knowledge - which isnt that hard to get, especially with experience with less spopular SAP modules (PM, PS come to mind). FYI decent local SAP consultants can get 18k RMB + packages, more if they can manage projects etc. Salaries in the US are of course much higher. Ridiculously high in fact. |

CBT = Computer Based Training.
Yes, they do make training courses.

I'd also look at ebookshare.net, and see whats available on there to download also.
I've done dev work in Powerbuilder (its a horrible product imho), but, yes, a move to SAP would be worthwhile.
You should talk to some headhunting agencies. There are plenty of jobs out there providing you can talk the talk and walk the walk...
Most of the decent jobs will tend to be up in Beijing though, as thats where most of the head offices are.
Good luck.
