Post subject: difference between fake watch and a real one!

My REAL Omega needs a service. Has anybody had their Omega serviced here in Shanghai. I have seen some big upmarket shops with Omega counters but not sure if they can service them. I have a Divemaster watch so will need it hydro testing as I am one of those people who take it diving.

Any information gladly taken.

I paid 150euro's to have it serviced before so maybe I would be better off buying a AAA Fake!

There is a service centre (at least there was a couple of years ago) in Xujiahui that deals with Omega / Rolex etc. Its supposed to be officially associated with the watch companies so its your best chance of not getting your watch switched. I don't have the exact address though.

Hi there I got my watch changed in this place next to Jing an temple. They also do hydro testing. And are quick and reliable. Although I don't have an Omega or expensive watch... I have since taken it underwater since I got my battery changed there and no leaks or problems Smile

I had my Omega (Speedmaster) serviced (tuned & cleaned) at an Omega company store on Nanjing. Near Jing An Temple--I think. Was across the street from the mall complex with a huge street level Starbucks that has since been moved underground. Most likely the same store mentioned by Camelina. Service was quick and very professional. Price was RMB 900

there is an Omega shop on Huai Hai Lu, past Ruijin Lu as you walk towards Hong Kong Plaza. This watch store sells Omega, Rolex, etc. I had my seamaster serviced there -- you can watch the jeweler in action, so there are no tricks. I would try them.

Nanjing East Road, Pedestrian side, its near the start of the pedestrian street from Raffles City Building, it will be on your left, look for the ROLEX sign, and ask inside for the watch repair service desk which is in the back, they do decent work at a good price, I had to get a link removed from my Movado as well as for my mothers Rolex that we bought in Boston, you can watch the serviceman do the work with no tricks as the above posted mentioned. Cost us each 40RMB per watch.

Fakes will probably break when trying to do a repair Smile

Not cheap for a service. "Watch" (pardon the pun) some dodgy counter clerk doesn't do the switch on you and give you back a Xiang Yang Market special.

it's too big a risk here, the switch is a very common trick in shanghai, these people are obsessed by money , profit etc.
no place is safe official repair centre or not, corruption and thieving sits at every level of Shanghai society.
I recently had a friend dump her bank clerk BF cos he is using HSBC customers money to buy his own stock shares,
my point is "if in Shanghai then it's a risk" you know it! that's why you posted the subject
