| Post subject: Where's good to go without western men? |
Anyone know of any good bars where Chinese people hang out?
Man, that ladies night at Zapata's sure is one big white boy c0ck fest. No fun at all.
I'd know where to go in Beijing to meet Chinese people, but Shanghai seems to full of western men or Chinese slags after what these western men have in their wallets.
I know there's loads of clubs with mainly chinese people, but thinking more of a bar where only chinese people go and it's not a thumping disco rave bar.
Any ideas? |

Just go for a walk and find something yourself. The best stuff is always what you find yourself. Good luck though. |

go down to the french concession/ old chinese area back behind xintiandi. find yourself a nice corner, plop a lawn chair down in the bike lane, break out the peony cigarettes and have some qingdao. good way to meet locals. |

i like C's on dingxi lu. just anywhere low key and a little off the cuff is a good bet. thing is, culturally there just arent that many chinese women going out to bars the way they would in the west.. the mix you're looking for may not exist |

Yeah, if you're thinking that there is a rich seam of binge-drinking, unattached women singing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" in Shanghaihua, I think you'll be disappointed.
All of the guys under 35 in my office never go to bars because "Only bad guys go there", and if it's like that for the lads, that must go double for the girls. |
