Post subject: Automotive and Manufacturing books and novels ..

I need them ..

THE GOAL, LEE IACOCCA BOOKS, DR DEMING, BOOKS ON KAISAN, KANBAN/PULL FLOW, JIT, ETC ETC.

I would perfer something like the goal, I read it a long time ago but you need to read these books more than once. Want to get them, order them through amazon or some equivilent china web-site.

The Goal would drive you crazy here ... cognitive dissonance Smile Just tried to place a half-million dollar order with a 100 year old Chinese company. They didn't want to take it because actually doing work was "tai mafan." Shee-it. Maybe I should buy ten copies of the chinese version and insert it sideways ...

try to find this one :

Richard Dauch, Passion for Manufacturing It was pretty good (maybe more talksy than fundamentals tho). And Iacocca's autobiography was more interesting than you'd think, too. Lots of good mfg speakingk.

Spantaculous, i will add those 2 to my list. I have thought Iacocca's autobiography would be good, except i usually get afraid of a book if it's thicker than a ham sandwich. Cheers ..

The Goal is indeed an excellent book.
I never read it, I listened to the audiobook version (have it with me if you want bougs).
I have some other of his stuff in PDF format if you want. You could easily get it printed if you prefer to read it on paper (I have this application that condenses PDFs to half the size and organize it

I never managed to finish Iacocca's bio, but Akio Morita's (Sony) I remember being loads of fun.

Oh, I have something for you (this one paper based). It's called The Creative Priority, about this American dude that starts working for Nissan doing design work.

I got the other day some 200 PDFs with 7 to 10 pages summaries of a number of business books. If anyone is interested PM me. Some of the summaries are quite good.

Also, you might be interested in visiting this page, with some engineering related ebooks:
http://www.nap.edu/catalog/11338.html (it's the National Academy Press page).

eBooks for free there.
