Not for a hotel diner, but...

Dinner at Moon River Jingan last night was disappointing. Service was slow, they kept stuffing us with side dishes while we waited and waited and waited... our turkey did not arrive until 2 hours after we sat down. Dessert buffet didn't have enough for the crowd, as soon as a pumpkin pie was out, it was gone in maybe 3 mins. Our table gave up waiting for a pumkin pie and left. Considering last year's was pretty good, it was a nightmare last night. For 200rmb/person, the dinner was not worth it.

Also not a hotel dinner, but...

Malones did a great job for our party of 60+. They did a buffet style meal with Roast Turkey, Honey Glazed Ham, Potatoes in various forms, including sweet potatoes, Steamed veggies, peas, carrots, broccolli, and pumpkin pie and chocolate cake. Free flow beer/wine/drinks to top it off.

They did at-the-table turkey carving for the smaller parties but ours was done at a carving station.

The food just kept coming. Excellent.

regular price of 299 for a downtown location and a great meal is fair. Our party had a small discount which worked out nicely.

Great dinner, friends had it catered from Westin Hotel; turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy and cranberry sauce. But unfortunatley the desert wasn't pumpkin pie but brownies instead (not to say they weren't good but not the festive desert I was expecting). They have it catered from the Westin every year and it never disappoints Smile

I told everyone it was a traditional Chinese Stuffing for New Years. I told everyone that it has been used for 5000 years.

Moon River in Jing'An
We received our turkey in a timely maner but before the side dishes... It was fun attempting to carve it myself. I more so hacked it to pieces but.. it was still edible.

Overall I was pretty satisfied, I have had worse tdays in the states. But knowing that I was going to be celebrating it again this Saturday (Home cooked) left me less judgmental during dinner.

The turkey dinner at Maneo was nothing short of excellent. The food was amazing. Turkey was perfectly cooked, the sweet potatoes and stuffing were great, the cranberry sauce was like nothing I have ever had. I was with a group of 12, and we were all more than satisfied.

Marriott HongQiao was awesome! Beautiful spread. Turkey was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, when we asked for a turkey at the table they had pre sliced it. However, on the plus side they gave us enough legs so we didn't have another family fight on who won the legs. Had an unbelievable cheese and bread spread. Best mashed potatoes that I have had in a long time. Lobster, Shrimp, and sashimi weren't all that traditional but very delicious. The head chef was walking the line constantly and giving recommendations and pairings as well. The best part was they gave you a to go bag so you could make turkey sandwiches the next day (my favorite part of thanksgiving) All in all a solid A. Would highly recommend.

We were at the Moon River Jingan as well but missed getting reservations so we were stuck down on the second floor with the 'Denny's Style Thanksgiving Plate' for 65 RMB.

And honestly we were really happy. Great helping of turkey, tons of mashed potatoes and candied yams, cranberry sauce, and stuffing. Couple rounds of rolls and then pumpkin pie to top it off. We were all completely stuffed at the end of the meal. Too stuffed actually. Best 65 RMB I have ever spent in Shanghai.

And we had front row seats to the madness of the kitchen preparing the food for everyone up on the third floor. And believe me it was madness. Pretty obvious the management was PISSED off. Made us very happy we missed out on the more expensive meal.
