| Post subject: Transfering money from Germany to Chinese bank account |
Hello,
I have just been to the ICBC Bank with the intention to open an account to receive monthly payments from my company in Germany.
I was told that this would be no problem however the transfers will be in Euro only. To change it into RMB I have to come personally and fill in form.
I wonder if there is a more elegant and convenient way of receiving payments from outside China.
Basically all I want is to have a Chinese ATM card to get cash instead of using my German one which is not accepted everywhere and a fee is charged.

Don't believe there is a workaround, unless you ask your employers to see if their bank can remit your salary in RMB.
Or you can look into opening an account in Germany with HSBC, direct deposit your salary there, and use your atm card here at their Shanghai atms. |

I don't have experience with transferring money from Germany to a chinese bank account, but an easy solution for getting cash from a German bank account in China with no fees is the DKB (Deutsche Kreditbank) VISA card. No costs at all involved, the official internet rate, no commossion, nothing, I wonder how they do it. Send a pm if you need more details.
But, well, not all banks accept it, so a union pay card still can be useful! |

I am in Germany in a small bank. I drop them an e-mail or a phone call, provide the bank name (my bank is Bank of China), account number, name and the “swift code”.
The money is within days on my account in EURO.
No problem at all… |

Sounds good. How much do they charge per transaction? Is there any fee from the Chinese bank? |
