Just downloaded this to my phone. Seems to work but I need to test it a bit more.
Basically it allows you to make skype calls from your mobile if it is wi-fi enabled. Good if you are near a free wi-fi hotspot and other people are on skype.
Anyone else tried it? |

hey Jeff, Fring is available for free from iTunes store as an App. Will work with iTouch, but you need a mic for iTouch I believe? Like a bluetooth headset. |

^ I went to Itunes but it wanted a credit card and I didn't have one with me so didn't complete the account.
Unfortunately without a credit card or girt card you cant create an account to download stuff, but later today I will use a visa and set up my account.
I have to find a blue tooth headset that i like for the Touch. |

Fring Rocks I have been using it for years, best use case is with SKYPE get a data package in China and buy some "skype out" credit. Cost to make call international call around 50 rmb for the data package(per month) and call to UK landline 0.017 euros.....
Even better if your phone has WiFi you don't even need the data package. Will just about work on 2G depending on reception always works on 3G
Call quality is not as good as normal calls but good enough for most things
It also bundles up all your other Instant messenger accounts i.e. MSN, Yahoo, google chat etc.. |

same here, fring seems blocked over ChinaMobile GPRS for some reason. Worked fine until a few days ago.
Now I use Nimbuzz, I find that even better. |

I moved from Fring to Skype for the iphone.
Skype seems to get me better quality calls. |

Yes seems like Fring is blocked on mobile devices.
I have China Unicom GPRS and also have problem accessing.
Nimbuzz is great, although it sometime crashes on my Nokia E71, and seems to suck up a lot more data + battery life. |

I've now [grudgingly] moved across to Nimbuzz.... bugger. Can they ban anything else? |

It seems that Nimbuzz has been blocked as well since this morning. Skype is working but no client on Nokia 5800 yet. |

Palgringo does not support Skype or VOIP = useless. |
