Post subject: We are all to blame for

For the first time on Friday, I heard the Olympic Games soundtrack. Seconds later, handicam footage of my living room would show a third party, my girlfriend in tumult, checking my pulse. A voice recorder would play my girlfriend shouting...keep breathing…get the solvents and/or salts…how many fingers can you see…four...

The tune was being sung by models previously involved in the Miss World contest on a Beijing dockside, with cargo ships and military vessels, as a backdrop on Sportscene on CCTV 9. The reason I became comatose was because the lyrics were freighted with unmoored, unimaginative, trite, christian sighs and goodwill.

Next year Olympic fever will be killed by aspirin and over use of the mute function in the Paulo household.

Last week, all in all, was a little off-beat, hearing the Olympic chorale, finding out that my right arm is longer than the left, pissing on public toilet paper at work and I found out Iris Chang committed suicide in 2004/09/11, so in my consciousness she lived three years and a month longer than she did. She asked to be remembered as someone "engaged with life, committed to her causes, her writing and her family."
