Post subject: Personal Bank Account

Short time viewer, first time poster.

I need to open a personal bank account. Bank of China and most of the other Chinese Banks can accomadate me, however, I would like to have the ability to receive statements and other bank docs in English. I know of some inconveniences of the foreign banks, but what bank (foreign or not) could best serve my needs?

Thanks

My order of preference for foreign banking here in Shanghai.... HSBC, CITIBANK, DBS,Standard chatered.

For domestic banking I use BOC & ICBC but CITIC is also pretty good.

Do you actually need those statements or is it worth the cost and inconvenience of using a foreign bank in China? Just get one of those passbooks from Bank of China or ICBC and every transaction will appear on that.

Thanks for the info... the Chinese banks are most convenient for me in terms of accesibilty. The English thing is a sense of personal content for being able to fully understand my personal finances here. I appreciate the input... anything else anyone could offer would also be taken kindly.
