Yeah, it's called freight and you just pay some money and FedEx, UPS, DHL or some other airlines ships your package wherever you want it to go. AND, there are even permits and special forms you can get to ship cool stuff like boxes, packages and parcels.
Just jackin' with ya...
No, airlines will not ship your luggage without a body (passenger). Look into freight companies. |

Some airlines do offer "same day" delivery service in which items are shipped without a person, but I am not sure if the service is offered internationally. The service I have used in the past is expensive and a pain. Not worth it, unless someone didn't do their job and something has to be somewhere before 8:30am the next day.
As for shipping goods home, take DesertSpider's advice and use a shipping company... easier, cheaper and doesn't take much longer. Or, depending on the number of bags your are carrying, it may be worth it to bring extra bags. When I left, I think I had six suitcases, two carry-ons that grossly exceeded weight limitation and a cat. Really only worthwhile if your destination is the US as the weight limiations are higher thereby justifying the excessive baggage charge. |

Not sure of the details, but airlines often have an air freight section. Usually in some remote warehouse - hanger near the airport - completely separate from the passenger business. Not cheap, usually, and you have to have someone on the other end pick it up and, especially in China and the US, probably need to open it and inspect contents before they take it. |

I sent stuff from Heathrow airport once, we were overweight and the nice Vermin Airline staff wanted to charge us 1% of the 1st class airfare to take it. So we sent it by one of the luggae companies at Heathrwo. Can't remeb\mber what their price was but the hassle we had this end getting it. We had to go back out to Pudong, get a shipping agent, pay a fee, find the customs and pick up the stuff. Took a day.
On the other hand I have sent large boxes of books by post and never had a problem. |

I did it once and the cost was 9RMB/kilo from Beijing to SFO. The bags did not arrive the same day and I had to go pick them up at the airport freight section when I got back. A little bit of a hassle. I did not check the DHL prices, but it wasn't that expensive. Total time was 3 days after I arrived (actually 2 but I waited an extra day), and total price was around 60 USD. |
