| Post subject: I had an amazing food experience... |
Well the other night I was having a friend come in to China I hadn't seen in years. She was going to be here for 3 days and she asked me to help her find some unique things to do in Shanghai. I was really scratching my head what to do when a good friend of mine living in Shanghai told me about a Christmas party they went to at a place called Passionate Chef cooking class studio. I took a look at the website and decided it looked really interesting. I gave the manager a call and as luck would have it she was free the night I was looking for something to do so I booked a class for 2 people. It is a new place so not really crowded I was told at the time.
Well we arrived and was greeted by the hostess in a really cute Chinese traditional dress. The view of the bund is absolutely stunning, was a fantastic view similar to that of Bar Rouge... We ordered the dinner class with wine and had a really nice red wine waiting for us. When I made the call they said we can cook 4 dishes including appetizers. For the 2 main dishes we chose with her help -
1. Spicy Lotus Root with Vegetables 辣炒藕丁时蔬
2. Razor Clams with Chive 葱香蛏子
3. Stewed beef & tofu with brown sauce 豆腐烧牛腩
4. Stir-fried dumplings 煎饺子
Well all in all it was a really incredible experience. Because it was a new business I told her I would mention it to some friends and also decided to post here.
Her website - http://www.passionatechefsh.com/
I figure I will also include the little write up next post that she sent me before I booked the class. They have private lessons and group lessons as well. I really had a great time, if you are looking for something great to do in the new year I can't say enough good things about it. |

Thanks for the tip. If you talk to her again, you might suggest that they slow down the banner on the website and offer a way to sign on to a mailing list. I'd love to know about the foodie tours when they plan them. |

Haha I am not an expert cook I just really enjoyed her class. Plus the hostess is cute as hell, haha. But in all seriousness, I would so strongly recommend people taking a class here. I have paid the money for the lessons to start after Chinese New Year. If anyone wants to take them with me we can try to arrange our classes together. |

This is SOOO cool!!! So Rick, you cooked 4 dishes and finished eating (fine dining) all in just 3 hours? I'd LOVE to go. Can I go by myself? But, food tastes better when it's shared, doesn't it? |
