| Post subject: Transfer moooney to UK |
Tried to search for info around ShEx, but can't quite find what I'm looking for.
Mrs and I will be moving back to the UK around June time ish.
Got a bunch of savings here (RMB) that we will convert to pounds - that is the easy part.
Whats the best way to get it transferred back to the UK? Also, fees, etc.
Is there a limit on how much money can be transferred out of China?
Yosh. |

i think the correct procedure is: go to the bank, tell 'em u're peacing the fuck out of here, never to return, and that u wanna clear your acct of all the remaining funds. bring documentation of your emigration back to the UK.
they should know what to do. hopefully. |

since when do they know what they're doing?
Another option is for things to be handled from the mrs' side. She is a Chinese citizen after all. |

Lots of threads here about this...Must not have looked to hard there pal...
If you can get the RMB into a foreign currency, deposit it AS A FOREIGN CURRENCY into your account, then go to the ICBC on Nanjing Xi Rd., go to the second floor (this is assuming you have an ICBC account, and I am sure other banks operate similarly, especially Bank of Communication, CITIC and Merchants Bank) then tell them you want to transfer it to a foreign account. Easy peasy. No limit as far as I know, you just have to make sure that you have enough RMB in the account to cover the transfer fee (ask them, they will tell you how much) and there is time to do that afterwards as the transfer will not post until the next day...Have done up to USD10,000 this way in one shot, BUT, you have to have USD in the first place. If you try and do an RMB transfer out of the country it is a bit trickier and requires tax forms etc...
But, easiest way?; get your ass to Hong Kong or back to the UK and direct deposit...
Good luck! |

Nah, I spent around half an hour looking, saw a previous thread on exactly what I wanted, but couldn't see it!
Saw lots of threads on US -> China vice versa.
Someone was heading back to the UK to buy a house or something (same as myself). |

Either do the transfer as described by NCD22, get a cashier's check from BOC or carry the cash in your pockets. |
