| 1400 rmb for the US version is the 8gb model with a 2 year contract to ATT. Signing up with a contract is the big difference, so you can't compare the US $199/$299 prices they are quoting. |

Aka one with a contract. Maybe some of our English teachers could donate a little time to shexpat posters. |

| 16 GB 3G from Apple, without a contract, uses any SIM card from any telephone provider only costs $6400 Hong Kong Dollars. |
A locked iphone does not mean he needs a contract. He's in Shanghai, which carrier is selling a locked iphone with contract here? How about all the locked iphones for sale here?
Best you ask Snippets what he means, but I take it to mean that he is trying to compare the price of an unlocked and locked iphone, without contract. That would make a more meaningful comparison to see if the price of a locked phone with sim hack makes it more worthwhile.
I know a good English teacher, if you need one. |

Locked to what, pray tell ? Perhaps a specific carrier ? The one you have a contract with ?
