Post subject: Sending a bank draft to Malaysia

I am looking to send about USD6K to Malaysia and it has to be in a bank draft/bankers cheque, no wire transfer. Does anyone have experience doing this and in what currency did you send the money in? Is there any charges to the Malaysian receipient for depositing a foreign currency cheque? Can it be done from Shanghai or easier to do it from North America?

TIA.

You can go into most branches of Bank of China and get a US$ bank draft for about 50 RMB. I think you can choose a number of currencies, but obviously not Malaysian ringgit.

Any charges to be paid by recipient depend on his / her bank in the country where they negotiate the check.

Of course EVERYTHING is easier when done from America!
