| Post subject: Can one extend Z Visa in between jobs? |
Hi! I'm an U.S. citizen working in Shanghai on a Z Visa. Currently I still have two months left on my employment contract and will not be renewing the contract with my company. I would like to stay in Shanghai and am seeking other opportunites. However, in the case that I don't find another job right away. Is there a way for me to extend my Visa until I land a new job? Thanks in advance for your help!! |

They will generally give you a 30 - 60 day window within which you can stay, but then when you find a new job you'll have to start the whole "Z" visa process all over again -- probably with a trip out of China.
If you can find a new job before the "Z" expires, you can usually do a flawless transfer. |
