Here is another Singaporean restaurant which I tried out today - found it by chance and it has been there for 4 years. We arrived about 6pm and it was not so busy but as we were eating the restaurant was packed with Singaporeans! It is on the 6th floor of City Center (Parkson in Hongqiao).
China Town Restaurant (Singapore) 牛车水
Unit 6-3 City Center of Shanghai
100 Zunyi Road
Tel: 62372686
Laksa was good, Nyonya Asam Fish Head was excellent, Nasi Lemak so-so not too much ingredients, Char-siu Siu Yuk rice - ok, Brocolli Scallop was good, Otak-otak - not good, Teh Tarik - good. Will definitely go back and try other stuff. Price is reasonable (Laksa RMB24). |
That's what I've been looking for: good Laksa. Thanks for the tip-off!
Anywhere else serve good Laksa? |

^ Seeing your name on a post in a thread about "Best Malaysia/Singapore dishes in Shanghai" is most bizarre.
So, why are you responding to a poster that hasn't posted in over 4½ years? His post was off topic to begin with. Element Fresh is certainly not where I would go for Malaysian and Singaporean dishes.
Perhaps you should have tried a more recent thread to reply to:

There's another one...Orang3 at Yili Lu by HuangJing Chen Dao.
Just recently open: Nasi Lemak, Roti Kaya, Noodles...even Half-boiled egg.
It's in Gubei area.

I walked by Orang3 yesterday. They have a sign outside that says "Special: Hainan Chicken Rice RMB58". How is the food there? Would appreciate some comments before ending up spending RMB58 (!) for chicken rice. |

sorry hautumncloud, late reply. food not bad, i haven't tried Hainanese Chicken Rice. Only tried Nasi Lemak. Not bad...
According to her, she's gonna organized an opening ceremony somewhere in September when weather is better. They have a open area upstairs.
Hmmm....RMB58? Geez....
Fusion Hainanese Chicken Rice is the latest place I had it...goodies |

prices are slightly on the high side. nasi lemak is at 48rmb, curry was at 48rmb, tahu telor was at 28rmb. can't remember the prices of the rest but it's all worth it.
i like the way they put the chicken curry in a bread bowl. looks and taste yummy. |

Yep, food at Orang3 is not bad but on the pricey side. It is also a bit difficult to find since they are on the pedestrian street, not facing the road. Nice setting with a lovely outdoor area. Here is their address:-
Orang3
555 Huang Jin Cheng Dao #2-103
Tel: 62082032
Note: They are not on the HuangJinChengDao near to Carrefour. They are on HuangJinChengDao on the other side of Gubei Rd pass the new developments. |

If you are ordering Roti Prata from the regular menu, it is RMB28 or RMB35 (can't remember for sure) but definitely not RMB15! It did come with a bowl of curry with a piece of fish in it.
Their Milo Shake is actualy Ice Milo (no shake whatsoever) and cost is RMB35.....quite pricey.
The other coffees like yinyong, milktea is about RMB18 for a cup (not a mug). |
