| Post subject: Where to buy a nice (soft) bed in Shanghai? |
I am not a big fan of the hard-as-a-brick beds that the Chinese seem to love. My company is willing to purchase a new western style bed for me, so I stop my whining. Although a bad nights sleep on the brick bed as been a nice cover up at work for being hung over!
Can anyone help me figure out where I can buy such an item? Any idea of cost and delivery fees?
Thanks! |

I've grown to really like hard beds, don't doctors say they are better for your spine, etc? (once you get used to them) |

Yep am a fan of hard mattresses as well. I loved it soft when I was little but our mother forced us to sleep on harder beds because they are better for the back.
Now soft mattresses make me tired!
thought Ikea has different varieties of softness for mattresses? You can test sleep too! |

Thanks for the tip yu888, but there is not much showing up on the search function. I did see that you can buy a bed from the Westin (for 5,500), but I was wondering if anyone had other options out there.
Thanks! |

the Westgate Mall and Yohan Store have/had large bed collections, never looked to see if they had any soft ones. |

We got ours at a Jisheng Wellborn (near Shanghai Mart) - there is an entire floor of stores selling mattresses. It was very expensive (more than the Westin one) but worth it to us. There were tons to choose from, from hard to soft. |

medium firm is usually considered optimal (for most). |

the most expensive bed on earth is the bed from Hästens, there's a store by xintiandi.
Hästens is Amaaaaaaaaaaazing, the only negative thing about the bed is that you don't want to wake up when you sleep on it.
it's swedish brand, it means (the) horse's |

I know a new shop at No. 1261 in Yunshan Road near the Carrefour on Yanggao Road in Jinqiao( Pudong). There are many amazing bedding, patchwork quilt/handmade rug/kid quilt/country quilt/floral quilt/pad/pillow, some of them is the brand product ( not fake thing). The quality is so good. |

Give Tempur a shot. Not sure about retailers in Shanghai but a quick search on Google should solve that.
Tempur felt awkward to me, and not nearly as comfortable as my regular ultra-soft bed, for the first few nights but after a short introductory period it was pure bliss!
Hope you find something, somewhere that suits you! |

I quite like Hästens and appreciate the quality, but one of my friends found herself getting much better sleep when she switched her Hästens to a bed from IKEA . Getting a bed that suits you and your body is so extremely individual.. |

Whenever we buy beds for clients I always go for Slumberland as they are well priced and have a good range of mattresses with different levels of softness. You can find them in most furniture malls in Wending Rd, Yishan Rd, Wuzhong Rd and Aomen Rd. We've had a few disasters with Ikea as they seem too soft for some people. Best check em out.

Hard beds here in SH are just...ack jesus.
THe entire hard beds are good for you spine mmmmk assume that 100% of us sleep on our damn backs.
I sleep on my side and when I wack up i have to pat myself down to check that the throbbing pain in my side doesn't mean somebody came and stole my kidney overnight...
Hate the beds but there is no way i'm going to buy a new one if I do i'll just end up leaving it behind when I leave SH anyways. Wasted money.
But my 2c on beds. |

...i found sex on the hard bed was kind of difficult and painful. i took off some skin and was bleeding from a few spots on my leg / foot that took a month to heal.
I try to sleep on my back too but when I end up on my side, sometimes I get a bruise on my hip. |

People already suggested NOT to go to IKEA as they don't have QUALITY beds. |
