No off-the-rack suit here will probably fit you and so since it will take alterations anyways, you may as well get a good suit tailored. On the low end, the fabric market is hit or miss in a big way. the High end, Hong Kong has the best ones. Ultimately there are a few good tailors in town too but you will pay a few grand rmb to get a good one. Original Dave's does great work and make fantastic fitted shirts as well. Get a discount if you get someone with the Enjoy Card to use it for you. |

Hi yu888, I am interested in getting tailor-made suits at "Original Dave". I tried to google it but could not find the contacts and address. You mind telling?
Thx! |

There are actually tailors in HK that aren't Indian! I still have my shirts made there because I cannot find anywhere near the quality here in Shanghai. |

I have also heard that Dave's is one of the best places to get tailored shirts in Shanghai. So, I actually had a few shirts made at Dave's but was very disappointed. A friend who accompanied me also had a couple shirts made, and he too was very disappointed with them. We pretty much don't wear their shirts anymore.
Since quite a few people do actually recommend Dave's, it is possible that the tailor who made our shirts was having a bad day. However, you might want to bear this in mind if you do decide to go there. |

hmmm, which Dave's? Not the one in the Portman right? that one used to be his but like the early non-local business people, his local partners scammed him out of the place and business name so he had to re-open somewhere else.
Anyhow it does seem "your mileage will vary" so maybe order one or two shirts to get a feel to see if its what you need. The Suit works and repairs Dave has done has been quite good. |

I went to the one at wuyuan road, near wukang road. It was in a standalone house at the end of an alleyway. |

Hi all, if you want good quality for interesting prices, try Phonepha - The French Tailor, a lot of choice for suits and shirts with italian fabrics (dong ping lu / heng shan lu). |
