Post subject: Bohdi Bike Tours

Has anyone been on a bike tour organised by Bodhi? Any comments you can share?

They're OK - very much geared towards expats so you won't see many locals joining. their prices are a little expensive. Their rides are good for novices and those who don't want to really exert themselves too hard.

The bikes they provide are adequate but showing their age. Don't expect top-of-the-range.

They mostly only do day-trips, which is a bit limiting as there isn't really any excellent countryside near Shanghai that can be reached within 3-hours driving. Having said that, they go to some nice enough places.

All in all it's a decent opportunity to get out of Shanghai for a day.

I personally prefer the Prodigy mountain bike club ( www.mtb.com.cn ). They are more orientated to difficult mountain biking. Most participants will be committed bikers who have their own RMB 10k+ MTB. They tend to go away for weekends, which means they can do a 4-hour drive on Saturday and a 4-hour return on Sunday to reach some very nice areas at the Anhui/Zhejiang border. You need to be prepared to rough it as they will book accommodation at fairly cheap places - think guest houses, farmsteads or even camping.

Yes, I am wondering the same thing. They sound like fun rides, but a bit pricey considering the costs of things here. Any comments?
