It's not like I have never tried Chinese food. I have been forced to eat it for years for business reasons. I have been to just about every fancy and expensive restaurant in Shanghai and Beijing. |

that i accept but to go on about someone else's culture and how bad the food taste reflects only your upbringing. i am not being angry but if i were to go to your house and say your mum's cooking taste like sh1t, how would you feel? and to aggravate the manner, i would say that i only enter your house because i am your friend and not because i enjoy the hospitality that your family gives me. |

Sorry, I apologize to 1.3 billion people for not liking Chinese food. Also, I should never have come to China for business reasons if I did not like the food. What was I thinking?!
Maybe they should add this to the residence requirements? Just after the obligatory AIDS test, they should ask all foreigners to gulp a sea slug. Those that can do it, can stay in the glorious motherland. Those that can not, must leave.
No further criticisms of Chinese food will be allowed in this forum. Anybody that dares to do so will be banned. Please limit your posts to one of the approved themes below:
1. Chinese food is good.
2. Western people eat steak and bread only.
3. Corn soup is western food
4. Chinese service is so good because the people are so naturally polite and try their best to make western guests happy. |

Just to clarify, I was not suggesting that foreigners be required to gulp kumlong's mother. I was referring to sea slugs, not sea slags. |

Gourmet Cafe: Now I remember. I went there when it first opened. Food was ok but it really seemed more like the owner's personal space than a public restaurant. With all the hugging and kissing and chatting going on, I really felt like I was getting in the way. I quietly paid my bill and quickly got out of the way.
Is it still there? |

Togo: The cheese sauce in the picture is causing me to gag just from the look of it. My wife can make better Mexican food than that at home. Probably will skip that one.
What is it with Mexican food and Shanghai? The two just don't seem to mix. |

Bloody hell you're not fussy are you? It's a nice place Gourmet cafe, when a friend of mine took a can of Mushy peas to go with his fish'n'chips， they heated it up and put it in a nice bowl for him.
Don't ask me about Mexican food, I've had it in Phillie and NYC, plus lots of places around Europe / asia. I always think it's crap.
(Don't tell a Mexican's Mum though) |

Bubba's Texas-Style Bar-B-Que: Did this place ever improve? I went there three times with a very open mind, but in the end, my "boss" told me it would be a divorce issue if I ever mentioned that restaurant again. So I have not been back since 2006. The Texans in this forum seem to think it is authentic...or maybe it is just a bad case of homesickness and too much beer? I'm no Texan, but I have been to Austin and Dallas and had MUCH better barbeque than what I ate at Bubba's in 2006. Hopefully it has greatly improved since.

Admittedly, I am picky. Plus it makes for a more snappy forum post to trash everything in sight.
Mexican: Agree that Mexican food sucks in NY, Philly, Europe, and Asia. I have tried it also in all of those places. I have tried it everywhere. The only places that seem to be able to handle it are Mexico, California (southern), Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
Come to think of it, there was one pretty good Mexican place in Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan. I think it was called Smoky Joe's or something like that. It was owned by a Taiwanese lady who also had an excellent Italian restaurant in Kaohsiung. |

That's because you're too busy sitting in the Big Bamboo complaining about the nacho's!
Agree with all the ones in bold on the list, haven't tried the others.
I'd add Thai House for great Thai food. Cheap too, and they deliver. |

I love the irony. Actually, I don't suppose you've considered the fact that you yourself are also the product of such brainwashing, same methodology, different bias?
