Just got back from IKEA. Bought some crap and had to eat meatballs. They are now serving it with mashed potatoes instead of rice, which I think is a great combination.

IKEA's resto is probably the best western restaurant in town valuewise.

They have good toilet paper too, and spacious cubicles in the loo (without wireless though).

Mrs SC and I would always eat at IKEA if we were on a shopping trip there. As HC said probably the best value in town.

SS's connection between the bogs and hot dogs is one to ponder...

Morning Boring!

Made some tempura last night, with lotus root, onions, sweet potato, etc. Used a store bought batter, but it wasn't as good as when we make it, so we'll go get some eggs and try again this week before the vegetable succumb to Shanghai.

Bought a bunch of migrant worker bags to pack the stuff I'm not keeping in, and will leave them downstairs for the neighbours/scavengers to go through. I have until Saturday, as I'm going shopping with a friend, and J has threatened me with indiscriminate eviction of my stuff if I don't clean it up. Razz Bastard.

Bugger. 22 already.

When we moved, the missus & I tossed some stuff out next to the garbage & went out to get some take-away muslim noodles. By the time we got back it was scavenged. Old purses, broken briefcase, few other broken odds & ends.

I think that apartment complex had a woman with a mobile on call to alert people to who's throwing away what.

We used to have one of our neighbours wait and watch for us to bring down our empty water bottles (we're horrible at letting them pile up), and then as soon as she (or my Chinese grandpa who was on scouting duty) saw us, they would yell at us, and take off at a run.

Always felt a bit uncomfortable having multiple Chinese people run at me for the sake of water bottles. Eventually, I just started leaving them by Chinese grandpas trash to save them the effort. Very Happy

I have a big sack full of my sister's old clothes.

Just wondering where to throw them - want to donate them, and looked at that communitycenter.cn or something similar, for addresses to take to - but my time is rather limited.
