singaporean place at corner of jiaozhou and xinzha is great - called orchard. lunch specials are good. I recommend laksa (reminded me a little of really good dan dan mian for some reason). also recommend the fried carrot cake (it's not like it sounds). |

The Yeeha BBQ and Sports Bar across the street from Paramount does yummy chicken wings. Would go back just for the wings. The tuna salad was not bad. |

sushi restaurant shoka on yanping lu. not good.
before today, I never thought a menu item could be insulting...
and then I found the diablo roll. spice is good, but a really thick layer of wasabe around the entire roll is just disgusting.
mayo/dressing/ketchup/etc gooped all over the other rolls didn't help |

Thumbs up for Orchard CRC, best chicken rice in Shanghai so far...
Another mention is for Thai House off Wuding Lu and Xikang Lu. Hole in the wall but great thai speaking waiters. Avoid the pad thai tho |

right in the heart of JingAn in Jiuguang itself, is Jin Gui Huang Cao which serves chinese food... not sure what type but the dim sums I had were great including their flaky durian puffs... its on the 6th or 8th floor where there are also other restaurants.
I love Lynn, a shangahinese restaurant that's on one side of the Portman RC, 68rmb eat all u can brunch on the weekends. |

add to recommendations list - chiang mai thai on kangding near yanping (need to check the others nearby), and orchard.
deleted from the list - wagas on jiaozhou |

What's wrong with Wagas on Jiaozhou Lu? Nice breakfast (50% before 10) and pasta specials.
Chiang Mai Thai is on 1019 Kangding Lu.
Also try Gourmet Cafe at 455 Shaanxi Bei Lu between Beijing Xi lu and Xinzha Lu. Great 55rmb lunch specials. |

Hi all,
I was told yesterday that Pasti's Manager has been replaced and there might be some changes soon.
Let us wait and see!
Cheers

Coconut Paradise on Fumin Lu - went there last night and the service was pretty bad. Mixed up the order twice and waiters seemed completely unfamiliar with their own menu. Also, midway through an appetizer, the staff came up without announcement or asking whisked away the appetizer we had NOT yet finished.
Food was OK, but not outstanding.
Notwithstanding the positive comments about Coconut Paradise, we will be seeking our Thai food fix elsewhere in future. |

Next to Gourmet Cafe seems like a new restaurant opening soon.
The whole street there looks like more new restaurant coming up.
Organic hot pot at the previous German restaurant.
Across the corner big sign of 85C and the same location of Sweet Fajalubi had changed to Chinese restaurant |

Tried Chiang Mai Thai .....
Here a quick glance
Chiang Mai Sausage was a nice appetizer. Thinly sliced and serve with peanut, chili, fresh lime, onion and some green cabbage. so can wrap it all up to eat it. Love this
Tom Yam Gong....... Was with coconut milk and little too sweet for me. Not the version I prefer.
Wok fried minced chicken with Thai basil..... Another good dish
Fried veg with shrimp paste was average as may be it just me, its kinda sweet. My friend like it very much.
Overall good to have one more Thai option in JingAn area. |

Bali Laguna inside jing an park; the HK restaurant at the basement of Sogo department store (you have already tried it!); Thai House; Sakae sushi, 1486 Nanjing Xi Lu. They are all good! Enjoy! |

Shoka on Yanping Lu has a RM128 all you can eat or RM188 all you can eat+drink. One of the better japanese buffets around. The sushi/sashimi platters were gigantous.. no idea how they made money. |

went to QiMin hotpot last night at shanxi bei lu.. spent 200rmb including one drink...
it's 3 times more expensive than WuJi hotpot, but apparently, everything at QiMin is organic... i do like their ambience though... and they have AESOP soap and moisturizer in their washrooms! |
