| Post subject: Western girls in Shanghai |
Ni hao!
Based on my 1-yr living experience in Sh as a white female, I'd say it's a tough place for western girls to meet someone.
- competition with local girls is tough, white men are sought after quite aggressively by chinese girls (they may be completely unpopular at home- here they feel like kings)
- there just arent very many good-looking interesting white men around. supply is lacking.
- shanghai is a party town. easy to meet people, but not so optimal in terms of creating a "healthy" relationship.
Girls: what do you think?? |

But if seriously, personally i meet many white guys every time i go out and they are very much interested to get to know me closer, but i am just so much not into them  why do you stick to white guys only? They date Chinese girls and feel perfect, why don't u try some other races? For example Latino guys are verrry hot and they like nice shapes (that Chinese girls are obviously missing), they are great dancers and perfect lovers, very passionate. Why don't u try smth new? |

Latinos are attractive to me, you're right. I guess i include them as "western men". But still, do you meet many interesting good-looking western men in the city, honestly?
Chinese men are unfortunately not my thing. |

Chinese are not my thing as well. I don't meet many good-looking westerns, that’s true, but i don't like them anyway. If you like whites only, there are some options. For example, from my last clubbing we have as a result (those who were interested and would like to ask for more): 1 Bulgarian- not cute, 1 Australian-not cute, 2 Italians- very cute, but i think they are not serious, 1 Turkish- not my thing, 3 Americans-2 not cute and 1 very cute, he is going to date with my friend tomorrow (she is white as well). I guess as for one night is not bad. As for me, i have a boyfriend and don't look for another one at the moment:)) So my advise: try Italian guys (some of them are serious), Spanish, Brazilian, and all from that area. They are really hot, they know how to dress up and they know how to charm a woman. Good luck! |

You're looking in the wrong places. Yes, there is a lack of 'younger' single white western men here, but you have to put yourself in the same arena that they're in.
My suggestion would be to network through a few of them and find out where they hang out, club, dine, etc. But, you will have stiff competition form local talent - hopefully you have something better to offer in terms of intellect or otherwise.

Why would i date some bald man? I don't have smth against bald people, but am not that desperate, thank u! I would probably think about this if am 39 and still not married (oh my God, sounds sad) |

I’ve posted extensively on this subject, to great controversy. But here’s my take on the situation . . .
Shanghai and all other big cities in East Asia are more alike than different in terms of prospects for a Caucasian woman. If you are not into Asian guys, your odds are pretty grim. Expat guys pretty much fall into the following categories:
Young and want to have fun ~ 70%. These guys aren’t ready for a serious relationship. They’ve just landed a good job that pays well and want to take advantage of the scene, which includes the local girls. And the girls are only too willing to oblige them. The majority fit into this category and you are not likely to meet them.
Old and want to have fun ~ 20%. Married or single, these are the guys who think they’re gods in Asia. They’ve made the transition from invisible to big swinging dick the minute they got off the plane. They’re the ones who give expats a bad name. Having said that, this type usually attracts the bar girls, etc. so there’s a certain justice in the mutual exploitation.
Not interested in Asian girls or gay ~ 10%. Since this group includes gays, the actual number of available expat men who would like to meet western women is quite small. But they do exist. I met my husband in Hong Kong, as unlikely as that may seem. We were both in our 40s, never married, and didn’t expect to. As strange as this may sound, I believe it was to my advantage to be older at the time as the younger guys generally fall into the first category above. I met quite a few older expat guys who were really looking for an equal partner. In many cases, they had played around with the locals and found them to be boring, shallow, and/or greedy.
For obvious reasons, this list doesn’t include happily married guys who are faithful. |

Im just saying western men seem to be popular among chinese women (and i dont mean only the "escort girl" type!). often you have ugly (sorry to be harsh!) western men paired up with beautiful chinese women. opportunities to get together with local girls are plentiful, be it at work or at a bar or even a hospital! a swedish friend of mine got a date w a chinese nurse the other day.. |
