| Post subject: MotoGP Booze bus 2008 |
Race day May 4th 2008 Shanghai International circuit.
The Bad news.
Firstly it will be the last race hosted in Shanghai for a variety of reasons, which include, location and bad air quality, the track is more suited to F1, minimal local interest, and of course Journalists were kept on a tight leash by the authorities, in case they said anything out of turn against the host country. This is some of the facts that DORNA the governing body have built up over the last few years, hence the decision to scrap the race here for 2009 and probably the next few years thereafter. Also the New Indy circuit in the US will feature on the 2009 along with Misano and maybe a return from South Africa.
The Good news
I will organize a bus, everyone stock up on beers food etc, hit the scalpers for a cheap ticket outside the circuit and have a bloody good day, there will be 3 World Championship races.
Costs based on last year.
Sadly we had only 8 takers last year so we hired a 10 seater, cost was 100RMB per head for day. Obviously a bigger bus = bigger bucks, Booze food etc up to you, we stopped at Alldays and basically emptied their fridge...Tickets around 200 - 300 dependant on stand.
Okay the possible list so far.

We had a great day last year and we even had our mascot, see attached picture.
Go Rossi!!!!

Crap!
Heading to Thailand today.....won't be back until next Monday.
Will have to give it a pass.
Touch choice.....but a week of golf, warm clean air, massages, and Thai food won... |

also heard that the supporting races have been scraped... which has upset many of the local and international teams, who have already undertaken all the necessary logistics to get bikes, parts, teams ete here... this is not to be confused with the MotoGP main event... i am referring to the supporting races... still just another f(*&^%(*^%p by the hosts! |

Sorry for the late notice but have two friends arriving this weekend from the UK. I've managed to get them tickets for the GP but they'd be keen on your bus to get them there and back from the city centre. They don't want to get lost on their first weekend in China! Can you give me details of the bus times and pickup and drop-off points? If we can work something out then I also have a spare ticket which they can bring along for someone. |

2 ranking race days ahead of the formal competition day. And normally the first ranking race day with so few people even you can count how many people in the Circuit. From the former experience, the Moto GP isn't so interesting as other sports events. And even there's a time you can got autograph but the queue is sooooooo long. When it's your turn and you will find the safe guard started to dismiss all of you. |

Just days before the race I am without a ticket. I watched the Formula 1 race from Grandstand B, which offered good views of of hard braking into the first combination of corners but little else.
So unlike F1 where I was all set weeks before the event, I am scrambling to get myself together. What can I expect to buy scalped tickets at? Can someone give me ballpark prices on Grandstand B and Grandstand A (high)? Or alternatively, how much should I pay for a scalped ticket compared to a real one? Also does anyone have any tips on how to safely buy these tickets on-site? Is it reasonable for me to enter with the ticket before paying the scalper? How does this all go down?
Bahh -- help me! |

Walrus thats a shame mate, are you heading to the music festival there? Bougie are you in Shanghai at present?
Ennesx B stand face value is 380 should be able to get that from a scalper for around 200-250 or even cheaper depending on your bargaining skills..
Update on bus a friend of mine has a 7 seater, so we may use that, however it will be a non smoker etc etc just really want to get to the circuit and have a good day..
Other than that we got quoted 600 for a 10 seater for 8 hours hire + 50 per hour after that.
Humac If you already have tickets they have a free shuttle bus service from various locations around the city, one of the terminals is at Shanghai Stadium I think, there is an old thread about times etc somewhere, they will take you to and from the circuit. |

I know and its a shame really, I personally think it is getting bigger than F1, go to any other circuit in the world Spain especially and there will be 120,000 in attendance. |

Have to hire now as my mate has to work Sunday, I need definate numbers for tomorrow, as we will either hire a 10 or 7 seater. Haven't decided yet where the pick up points will be, but will head to the circuit around 9.am. |
