Post subject: Probiotics?

Hey guys,

I used to take a probiotic supplement called 'Udo's Choice Super 8'. It was awesome and raelly helped to settle my occasionally upset stomach. Anybody know where I can find this brand (or any other high quality alternative) in Shanghai?

Also, are there any good health food/vitamin stores here? I haven't seen a single one. Maybe they are in Pu Dong?

Thanks!

Try Yakult, it's not a supplement, just a drink but it's considered one of the best probiotic drinks on the market. I've seen it in Carrefour, Tesco and some other small shops around my area.
Watsons sell supplements.
I would also like to know about places i can pick up legit vitamins (a place dedicated to this stuff) etc

Do you have scientific proof of that or is that just ignorant spewing? Sad

Quote:
Yakult is made from skimmed milk powder, sugar, water and our live probiotic strain of good bacteria called Lactobacillus casei Shirota.

Probiotics help rebalance the flora in your digestive system to HELP your Sh*t but certainly that is not whats in the bottle. That would be like calling you BS when I am actually calling youR BS comment. Capiche?

there are many probiotic brands out there as its consistent with traditional chinese medicine practices. I will see if i can dig up the brand I had used in the past, works well. I thought it was interesting that the Children's hospital here prescribed probiotics for my then infant son's diharea. Worked like a charm. Smile

Hi, I'm not sure whether you need a prescription for these, or if you can just go into a pharmacy and buy them, but try BIFICO (live combined bifidobacterium, lactobacillus and enterococcus capsules), from SPGC Sine Pharma Laboratories. In a green box, 30 capsules, 210mg. Hope that helps.

Question:- how to say 'probiotics' in Chinese?
I heard blue-green algae / Spirullina may be good too.
Some organic stores may sell their own brand. check it out.

Probiotics are also good if you've taken antibiotics.. to replace/replenish the 'good bacteria' in your digestive system.

I'm guessing that that brand may be quite difficult to find here Sad

I agree with the others: there's nothing quite like Yakult! It's cheap, you can buy it anywhere here and it's been around for decades. Smile

Thanks for the suggestions!

So does anyone know of a good health food store/vitamin store in Shanghai? I was just in Hong Kong and there were so many! Kind of disappointing if there isn't even one here...

Thanks again
