Post subject: Fake market on Nanjing

Ok the fake market corner Nanjing Lu and Chengdu Lu.
Whats people's thoughts on that fake market?

Walked through there once before (only to get to the other side) a real chicken crossing the road question....

Anywho haven't gone out of my way to purchase anything at fake markets as yet but definitely want to.
Plus this one is close to my house.

Do most people steer well clear of this market or is it fine?

I ask because I assume this market is the one where most visiting westerns with no idea of price tend to get fleeced.

like any of these markets, its based on supply and demand. and those who are not knowledgeable get fleeced...or maybe better way to put it is , everyone pays what they think is "worth it".

Its better than way back when in Xiang Yang Rd, managed better and even mostly smoke free thesedays. but to be sure, the attitude is still there and some idiocy.

Convenient for me though as I work a blocka way and i pop by once in a while just to see whats there. have not bought anything there in ages though. Still take my tourist friends there since its a convenient central "one stop shop" for tourist needs

Angelus...think we both live in the same complex....close to me also.

Pop in occasionally for me....take visitors there all the time.

Not a bad place....at least it is inside and has AC in the summer.

Have found some excellent stuff there, and some of incredibly cheap quality.

Like the old market....batgain like heck. Smile a lot, and there are some good values to be had.

Have bought stuff there. Some good some so so...

Have got some good price on some things at the same time have paid too much for some.

Definitely need to check stuff carefully. My sister bought some shirts there for her husband and the one they don't have the right size they ran around and came back with what look like the right size only for her to discover at home that it is way too small.

Yep, Yu's address is right, its on the north side of the road, and has a yellowish sign out the front, when you walk in it looks like a crap lobby, and there are escalators going up...

good luck!
