Post subject: Rock0093 Benefit Show @ Yuyintang --May 18

* Over 10,000 feared dead in biggest earthquake in China for 30 years

* Earthquake measured at 7.9 on the Richter scale, epicentre(s) in western Sichuan

* Second earthquake/aftershocks measuring 5.0 and 6.1 magnitude reported at epicentre today

* Relief efforts hampered by terrain and poor weather

Who would know that horrible disaster before it happened? This is the the worst news we've heard so far!!

So we decide to throw a benefit show this Sunday! we will donate all the money from the cover to a charity organization supporting the victims of the earthquake.

Its a great idea. We would help promote this IF we see where the money is going to. We will be totally into seeing this happen. But when you tug at the heart strings of people in such a major disaster to raise money.. you have be on it and make sure you deliver the goods.. that is.. money and assistance to the people who need it.

If you are doing a relief fundraiser, you need to be specific about who gets the money, when it will be delivered, how much of what you collect gets to the agency that will deliver the assistance.. etc. You should have a good PR before, during, and after the event, about all aspects of how the money is handled so that you build credibility. You have to be totally transparent about this.

Just remembering the debacle with the Tsunami fundraiser that we raised so much for only to have the money ( including a 1000 or so out of my pocket ) run off to hills ( and not to the relief effort ) with one of the guys.

well..we will donate all the money from the cover to Red Cross Society of China,Shanghai Branch. that's the best way we know so far.

i can understand that people would worry about where their money goes. i just want to say one thing that we are 30% businessmen, but 70% musicians who love our country n would love to give a hand to those who need help now!! if you have ever been to yuyintang, you would know that .

Fully support you, don't get me wrong. Been to Yuyintang many times, and one of my favorite bands are coming in again next week or so.. No Name! Have to check with Ray Yao to see what's up with them.
