Post subject: residence permit of more than 1 year?

just curious.. is there a residence permit of more than 1 year? I came across a couple of bank credit card requirements for foreigners that states your residence permit should be valid for more than 1 year..

I thought the residence permit is valid for 1 year only. How can I get one > 1 year?

Getting a local credit card seems the toughest experience in China. I got declined twice now (China Merchants bank, Pudong Development bank). is it easier to get a credit card through foreign banks with local branch here like Citi, Standard Chartered? Thanks.

GM/viceGM's of MNC's routinely get longer residence permits. even of non MNC's a 2 year permit is not unusual.

have fun applying for a credit card. Ask Underho about the chances... or just look it up on th site as ite been discussed many times.

Citibank will not issue their own credit card. They have an exclusive contract with PuFa. Same with HSBC and Hang Seng.

Yes, BankComm usually requires a 2-year residence permit. Given that BankComm gives credit to practically anybody, if you can't get a credit card from BankComm you are SOL anyplace else.
