Anyone ever visit Guam from Shanghai? Any suggestions? Maybe a recommended travel agency?
Thank you,
David |

I lived in Guam for 5 years and worked as the Fleet Coordinator of the Navy military base.
I loved Guam. First, I would say it is a poor Hawaii in the sense that it has 5 star hotels, lovely beachs, great food, however, it is smaller, lots of military, and is a vacation spot mainly for Japanese.
If you have any questions you would like to ask I could answer?
Further, it can be expensive you can check Saipan as it is one and half hours from Guam and the beaches are great as well and you can scuba dive, ect..
Both are US territories so no worries..Hope this helps..good luck..cheers, Christy |

Hey Christy,
agree with your assessment. Years ago I visited Guam from Taiwan and loved it. I think I spent most of my time mucking around the Japanese war relics, drinking coffee at a D&D and watching American TV. Along with the Philippines, it was one of the best place in Asia for a homesick American to reconnect.
One of the best beaches I visited was located on one of the bases (air base, I think). Do you happen to know if the beach is still open to US civillians? |

Thanks for the updates, we're staying at a military base with our friend who's a helicopter pilot for the NG. Rooms are only $30 a night, hoping it's not too expensive for other stuff...going to surf and enjoy the waves! |

So between Guam and Saipan which do you prefer?
There's a direct flight to Saipan from Shanghai but not to Guam. |

Oops I just checked and am wrong -- there are direct charter flights during certain times of the year PVG-SPN, but not now. |

As I know, the flight to Saipan is charter filght that is dominated by Eastern airline and the travelling agency Century Tours. For travellers start from Shanghai to Saipan, there is no direct filght unless you join in the team tour package of Century Tours. |

It is not so convenient to go to GUAM from Shanghai. Because there's no direct flight, you have to transfer from TOKYO or SEOUL or HONG KONG. The return ticket costs about 6500 RMB. |
