i read everything that was written in this thread...

to add to the list - there was orange peel in one of the shower rooms. is eat-and-shower the next 'in' thing?

this is the reason why i go to the gym at 8am on weekends, latest.

Agreed. Mornings is the way to go. You dont see anything you dont want to see, and its peaceful and I don't get pissed off.

Going to the gym today after work, hopefully he'll be there to give me a laugh

oh btw, now I really understand why ppl have sex in the steam bath, it's a friggin awesome place, love steam bathing!!!

UPDATE: 10 minutes before I leave the gym the guy comes in, reading Men's Health and start to woooooooooh woooooooooh. seriously, is he on something? Laughing

When I was going to GYM here I just hated to lift weights when they played chinese pop music..So I made my own CD full of Speed Metal and started playing that disc everytime I went to gym. It was pleasure to see the faces of chinese people after good old renegade.

How can someone listen those chinese songs for pussies when doing heavy training????

Okay this is frikkin hilarious.. I actually just joined just because I wanted to comment on this thread Very Happy

I just got to Shanghai and am here for the first time. staying for a year so i was planning on getting fit again... I am currently looking for a gym but all of this sounds just so bad! I think I will have to use the gym Fudan provides and just use the machines then return to take a shower in my apartment lol..

Any of you guys can actually recommend a gym? I heard MegaFit was good but thats it.. There really should be a list with gym's to avoid hehe.. I'd be willing to pay quite a good bit..6000rmb and more if needed lol .. oh and i know this isnt the right thread but do sport shops here sell western whey protein brands and shakers?

i've had experienced at star gym and total fitness. star is cheaper but more runned down. if they are close to where u live, u may want to check both out and then make a decision.

cool thanks.. well yeah i kind of use the money as a motivator Razz

.. you know when you pay alot u are going anyway even if u dont want because you paid alot Smile

cool hope they have some of the western brands and shakers.. i of course left everything at home

How Much is GymStar to join?? and monthly ? or could someone give me a generral idea of how much gyms cost here, someone told me they are quiet expensive..before i arrived

Depending on the quality and the "image"...

3,000-8,000rmb per year.

Average is about 5,000rmb

I now am able to watch a TV exercise show for 20 minutes each day...I'm hoping to get up to 45 minutes a day....

Total Fitness on Nanjing Xi Lu usually has at least one woman in the changing rooms sitting on a bench stark naked, enthusiastically clipping her toenails. I haven't seen any untoward use of hairdryers yet though.

^ aha, guy today takes off his top and flexes and poses in front of the mirror in the weights area. ( At the same gym). Would be quite normal if he actually packed some muscle.

I will re-locate to Shanghai from Shenzhen in about a month and planning to find a gym somewhere in the neighborhood, looks like it will be alot of fun Laughing

I remember being absolutely gobsmacked when I first joined Will's and walked into a locker room full of naked women strutting their stuff up and down the walkways. In this day and age I can't believe they don't worry about hidden cameras and the like.

There's this girl I see from time to time jogging on the treadmill in her miniskirt and platform shoes. Cracks me up everytime.

lol, this stuff is all true. I just train at the compound gym now it is much more relaxing.

However today I still saw this guy take off his shirt and spend about half and hour flexing and lifting in the mirror. He was really impressed with himself, he had quite the strut as he moved around gym, arms at 45 degrees with his torso!

I just saw a guy in my gym come out of the toilet, wipe his ******* with the gym provided towel, then proceed to blow his nose in it.... I don't care how many times or how clean they wash their towels, makes me forever want to bring my own.

Also, i get the japanese women (that come in bunches of five to seven women) oohing and ahhing and being all cutesy wootsy and giggling in unision, usually crowding around the water dispenser and all taking turns pouring cups of free water and handing them to their myriad of children, and basically being in the way...

So much fun when you're bored in the gym, people watching...

Also had a woman who is obviously a gym junkie, to the extent that she cycles like a madwoman - with her newborn baby in a baby capsule right next to her! When it was crying she removed it and held it whilst continuing to cycle and the baby cried even louder and others were kinda starting, then pretending not to stare..

And, in my gym the staff there are so bored (in the day) they have nothing to do, so they all play table tennis with me even for an hour and it's fine, what else do they have to do except stand at the reception and say hello and watch you sign in and sign out...

LO...fawkin' L @ this thread!

I need to experience a Shanghai gym before I leave China. The gyms here in Kunshan are pretty civilized minus the naked farmers walking around.

Any why is it that every time I'm changing, the farmer next to me will always look at my d*ck and try to compare or some sh*t! I caught over 5 people doing this and seriously I am going to pummel the next guy who I catch doing this.
