| Post subject: Where to buy bed/mattress? |
Anyone know of a good place with a good range of beds/mattresses for sale? How much is a decent single bed mattress going to set me back?
Thanks |

There is a furniture mall in Putou District, on Meichuan Rd, at the intersection where the Decathlon, B&Q and Metro is. The name is Macalline - on the 2nd or 3rd floor, there is a few stores selling just mattresses including Slumberland. Local prices. For Queen size 1.5m x 2m, a decent mattress is about RMB1,200 to high scale RMB6k. There are also cheaper ones which feels like sleeping on cardboard. |

Ikea. Have a good selection of mattresses. At least it gives me the feeling I don't have to worry about what the mattress is filled with... |

I have been to factories that build for Ikea and concur that they do a good job of quality control, but there are many other good options out their that have good products too. |

Ikea have those mattress top things that make Chinese-style mattresses feel like a real mattress. They go for about a 1000 kwai I think. |

I am looking to buy an inexpensive divan set, eg:
In the UK these things go for around the equivalent of 1200 RMB. The ones in the malls are far too expensive. Any suggestions for cheap places to buy these in Shanghai? |

I paid 5K for Queen size + 3K for single one (to make one huge bed). Worth the money, is comfortable like heaven. |

Sorry RB but based on what i saw at Ikea, your definition for "decent" is very different than mine. But for the price, it is a good temporary solution and still better than the usual local standard beds. |
