not true. generally speaking, all restaurants are smoking unless otherwise noted.

Adding one more place:[CLOSED NOW]

Ban Mu Yuan 半拇园restaurant, a casual Taiwanese noodle place at Peace Plaza on Shui Cheng Lu just north of Hong Qiao Rd. Non-smoking throughout.

Anyone has an opinion about Yong He King? Is the food good?

Another non-smoking restaurant. That new American diner, Moon River Diner, is no smoking inside. It's a pretty good addition to the Hong Mei Lu pedestrian street as well.

i know Arch 439 Wukang Road
is very good..and only in Wednesday it's smoke free.but the other time it's always no-smoking there.

I know CHATEA( Yi Cha Yi Zuo一茶一坐) has non-smoking section in almost every branches around Shanghai. And one branch is located in Metro City 1F.

Non-smoking section: Olinda cafe on Changshu and Changle Rd. (across from The Center office building). Very good, inexpensive Western-style set lunches.

239 is non-smoking in the main dining area until 9 or 9:30.

I thought all the megabits were supposed to be non smoking, but no one seems to want to control it.

Jimix Seve, the italian place on Beijing Rd has a non-smoking room up front. The rest of the place including patio are smoking though.

Element Fresh does NON smoking until dinner time.

239 is non smoking until 22:00 at night, in the restaurant, smoking is possible in the bar area though

Pasti located at corner of Beijing Road and Xikang Road has a non smoking section.

I just discovered the new Cafe Du Monde is nonsmoking. It's in Lane 555 Gu Bei Lu right by a Will's Gym. I'm happy to be able to get Beignets in Shanghai!!!!!!!!! yum

You can ask a mezzanine (call BaoXiang) in many restaurants.

i hear 'the naked cow' will be smoke free til 10pm. i think it's opening in a week or so, where zin wine and bar used to be

But it is a bit diappointed that even big restaurant like Golden Elephant (for thai dishes) does not have non-smoking area. At least the one in xintiandi does not have it. Just been there last week.

Had dinner at 239 and not only enjoyed the meal (and the free bottle of wine via enjoy card) but didn't know it was non-smoking. What a pleasant surprise. Especially after last weekend at Le Bouchon we had to take off our clothes in the elevator.
