| Post subject: Five Kittens in my backyard! |
Just got back from hols to find a stray cat has had five kittens in the security of our backyard - they are all happily breasfeeding and starting to move around, so I guess they are ten to fifteen days old. We have never fed the stray, so I guess the quiet house and the dark yard attracted it.
This is a first for me! I have ZERO experience with cats. When approached the mother gives a very angry stare and shows her fangs and hisses. So
- anyone what a white kitten?
- anyone who has any wisdom, advice to share please do - as we travel a lot and away from shanghai more than 50% of the time, taking one or more of the kittens will be very difficult.
Thanks! |

How did animals ever survive without our help?
Leave them be. |

I would give them to SCAA if you do not want them. |

Hi!!
Just to clear something up and that is you cannot just give these kittens to SCAA........that is not how we work. The lady would have to foster them and get them over to PAWS for a checkup which we would offer a discount. After they are given a clean bill of health and are old enough, they may be brought to adoption days ONLY with the approval of the Adoption Director. |

And then when someone wanted to adopt them, they would have to pay 500rmb per cat. |

I'd suggest you let them be or take some pictures and offer them up for adoption. In the meantime, let them be. Put some leftover food out if they look hungry. |

Woaihuan,
If the cat is older and has been spayed and vaccinated then yes we ask for a donation of 500rmb.......which is much less then what it cost us to do these things. To fully vaccinate a cat is approximately 350 RMB, Front line for fleas and ticks 100RMB, spaying 750-850 RMB plus it also it covers the cost of food for the animal while it was being fostered. So to be realistic the cost of caring, and responsibly looking after the cat is greater then the donation. |
