Post subject: Maldives

Hi,

Can anyone give me a rough idea how long it takes to fly to the Maldives, via Singapore?

Also, if anyone has been to the Maldives can you recommend the best places for watersports and accomodation?
I am interested in an independent villa or villas within a hotel complex.

Is Xmas a good time to go with regard to the weather there?

Thanks

via Malaysian Airlines - Shanghai > Malaysia > Sri Lanka > Maldives, 12 hrs total if i remember right. dunno abt Singapore Airlines.

Anywhere in Maldives is a great place for watersports/accomodation. But of course the farther from the capital (Male) the better. I'd recommend booking one of the resorts in the South Atoll, may need to take short flight but the view's breathtaking.

we visited in Oct but tour guide said best time to go is Nov - Dec, Christmas is perfect but lotsa tourists. chk their website: www.visitmaldives.com for more info Wink

been to several popular beaches but IMHO Maldives is numero uno!

Each atoll has it's own particular national slant. Some cater mostly to, say, Italians and everything -- especially food -- is geared towards their target customer. Unless you like eating raw $hit and drinking sake juice all day and night, don't pick one with a Japanese environment.
