| Post subject: Bad rash: Oil Massage? |
Went for an oil massage yesterday with my gf in Dragon fly on Changyi Road, Lujiazui, three hours later I started getting a rash on my hand, it become progressively worse till by evening my whole body was covered in a really bad red itchy rash - hands, legs, feet, everywhere. I didn't eat anything unusual, never had allergic reactions to anything before and have done many oil massages in the past. I was still wondering whether it could have had some kind of allergy, then my gf started getting the same rash on her legs and stomach, this evening she is also bad - red and itching. I went to the doctors this morning and got some creams but it still hurts like hell and I'm wondering how I could have got such a bad rash... he said it was likely an allergy to the oil ingredients, possibly unclean hot towels (for removing the oil). For both myself and my gf to have an allergy seems highly unlikely since neither of us are allergic, and I'm 99% certain it's not any food ingredients... Has anyone else had the same problem with oil massages from this place: No. 29-31 Changyi Road, Lujiazui? I've been to other dragon fly branches before across sh and never had a problem, but specifically Pudong Changyi Road - has anyone else recently experienced anything?
Thanks for any responses. |

Sounds like too much lanolin in the massage oil. Not much will help - maybe get some anti-histamines from the pharmacy. I would also go back to Dragonfly and show them the results of their work - at the very least I would want my money back ! |

yep it's not good, I got some clarityne tablets from the doctor, and some cream and a spray. It takes the pain away, but I'm still covered in horrible red itchy rash, and my gf also got worse this morning. Does anyone know how long this is likely to last? I read on the internet some woman had skin problems for 3 months due too an alergic reaction to lanolin (if indeed that is the problem)
Still waiting for dragon fly to get back to us, we called them yesterday and sent them our medical report from the hospital. So far not even an apology, I'm far from impressed. Has anyone else had the same problem from this branch? |

If you have had a real histamine dump then it can take 6 weeks to clear. The only other faster way is to take cortisone tablets but you need to keep taking them and come off them gradually. Not the best way but 6 weeks of itching.......
If you don't get any response from Dragonfly go there when it's busy and show your rash to other customers - you will get a much faster response than sending in a doctors report. |

Don't call Dragonfly and send your records....photograph yourself (hopefully have been doing that each day) and then call the main office and demand a meeting with the president/owner/PR director. Forget about the individual branch, go to the top. Dragonfly was started by a Singaporean man, so he should have some idea of the potential damage your claim can do. |

That one person should have an allergic reaction to the massage oil is perfectly plausible. When two people break out in a rash, then it would appear that the oil was somehow tainted. But if that were case, there ought to be more than two people who were affected. That the two people reporting this happen to be friends, and that it supposedly occurred at the one massage chain that everyone can name - not some anonymous local joint, but the one with the deepest pockets - seems a bit suspicious. |

Which is why I asked above whether anyone else had the same problem. If I wanted to earn some extra $$$, I wouldn't waste my time in disfiguring my body and putting myself on medication, but thanks for your thoughts anyway.
The point is I broke out in a rash 3 hours after visiting this place, by the evening the rash had spread across my entire body, and then my gf started getting the same symptoms.
This is not a money making exercise, this is 100% genuine, and I'm not happy about it.
Has anyone else had problems at this place? |

Don't go to Dragonfly for serious massage, they are really dirty, last time my gf took me there, i smell something really funny in their towels, asked the manager to change, she gave us that poker face, really bad experience! But heard they start to provide sexy massage in their nanchang and changle branch, the rooms are all dark...crazy!! |
