| Post subject: Battery problem on macbook pro |
Ok, so my battery isn't charging and I don't know why. I took it to a store and they can't seem to figure it out either. Here's the deal. At first, they thought it was system problem, so we upgraded to leopard. After upgrading, it still didn't charge.
We've taken my battery and put it in another macbook pro and it charged normally. We also took a batter from a different laptop and it charged normally. We also tested my power adapter and it was working fine.
The battery indicator at the top says it's plugged and it'll jump up and then jump back down while it's plugged in.
Any ideas on what the problem might be? |

yea i could. Actually, I just read up on it on the apple website. It looks like I'll just have to get a new battery. Does anybody know how much it will cost? |

Maybe this can be of help although it isn't exactly for the newer generation laptop, like the Macbook Pro: Resetting Power Management Unit (PMU) on Powerbook - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1431?viewlocale=en_US
| Quote: |
The Power Manager is an integrated circuit (computer chip) that is usually on the logic board of the PowerBook and iBook. As the name implies, it is responsible for power management of the computer. It controls backlighting, hard disk spin down, sleep and wake, some charging aspects, trackpad control, and some input/output as it relates to the computer sleeping.
Over time, the settings in the Power Manager may become unusable, which can result in operational anomalies with the computer. Examples include not turning on, not waking from sleep, not charging the battery, or not seeing the AC Adapter, among others.
Resetting the PMU is not intended for resolution of a stall or situation in which the computer is unresponsive. A PMU reset should not be necessary except as a last resort in cases where a hardware failure of the power management system is suspected. Performing a PMU reset returns the iBook and PowerBook hardware, including NVRAM, to default settings and forces the computer to shut down. |
Good Luck! |
