hi, i live Xu Jia Hui, not far, we have court here, I am also looking for a weekly game and played medium level in UK but I have not had a game for last 3 years. I've played the game for years, know the rules and can play good variety of shots. When i played in UK i could usually hold my own, but there was one guy who used to play a county level who would muller me every time, so if your an animal player I probably wont be up to your standard but i'll give it a shot.

Hi all here,

I would also like to join you guys to pay squash once or twice a week, not sure which day yet, since I will be in shanghai in Nov.
About my level, I think lower than medium.
PM me when you think we can take a trial run once or twice.
All the best.

Hey everyone. I am also reasonable player, but live out near the American School and Shanghai Racquet Club, but am not a member there, sadly.

Can make it into town for a hit now and again, timing is flexible, so please let me know. Cheers, Brendon McQueen: brendonmcqueen@yahoo.com

Ambassy Court (1500 Huai Hai Zhong Lu/Wulumuqi Lu) have two courts; not sure if you have to be a member to play. Cost: RMB 40 for an hour - considering the slanted ceiling it is not the optimal court, but it definitely works.

I can't stand playing on those wierd shaped courts. The courts at Shanghai stadium are regulation sized, and last time I played there about the same price, and no stupid membership required.

Guys.

Someone ( loowk ) sent me this bit of information which may be useful :

************************************************************

Hi,

There are regular social squash games at Shanghai Stadium (East Asia Tennis/Squash Centre).

The standards are mixed, from beginners to extremely good.

It is fairly social and you will meet people from many nationalities (locals, British, Aussies, Japanese, Malaysians, Singaporeans, Hongkies, Germans, French, South Africans, etc)

Metro stop Shanghai Stadium. 1 metro stop south of Xujiahui Station.

Sessions :
a) Monday 6:30pm to 9:30pm
b) Thursday 6:30pm to 9:30pm
c) Saturday 3:00pm to 6:00pm

These sessions are opened to anyone. No registration or membership stuff. Just come with racquet/racket and proper attire, eg. indoor shoes (non-marking soles).

Just walk-in, say hello to those present and then get on with the game.

Just pay RMB50 at the end of each session. No worries about court booking or playing partners availability.

******************************************************************

Question: are people referring to the Shanghai Stadium or the Shanghai Indoor Stadium?

To be specific, East Asia Tennis & Squash Center locates closer to Shanghai Gymnasium (Shanghai Indoor Stadium) than Shanghai Stadium.

The center is in-between Shanghai Gymnasium's Gate/Entry No.2 and Gate/Entry No.3.

It seems most of you live on the Puxi side. Megafit in Pudong has open squash on Tue nights from 7 to 9pm and Sat from 3-6pm. No membership required and costs 50 RMB each time. I will start going there from next Tue. If any of you already go there, let us know how it is. I am also looking for games in downtown Puxi in the evenings.
