Post subject: Beach hotels on Hainan near Haikou?

Hi,
I am planing to spend some weekend on Hainan. Can somebody recommend a hotel near the beach? It should be near by Haikou, to avoid a long taxiride.

Thx

I am in Haikou twice a year for business and always stay in the only international 5* in the city: Sheraton Haikou Resort Hotel.

Went to Sanya, Dadong bay, march 2007...
Wife booked through a Beijing travel agent: honeymoon package
2 round tickets flights shanghai- sanya, + 4 nights in Shanhaitian hotel...great pool, right on the beach..nice huge room with baclony with table and chairs. one half day of wedding pics (well, it was to please the wife...) 2 bottles of wine on arrival, petal roses on bed and even in the toilet...one hour spa for madam..free bowling...free huge breakfasts every morning.... damage: 7000 rmb
If you want the contact, I ask my wife. I am in taipei tonight

Shan Hai tian hotel is great, becoz it is the last one on the bay..but walk 5 mn through the gardens of the hotel and you reach the sand beach.

Haikou is not a tourist destination, because the beach isn't nice. Sheraton is definitely the nicest hotel there. Sanya is the place to be in China, and Dadonghai beach is really affordable. Guesthouses are everywhere offering rooms for 60-80rmb per night. Check out Rainbow Bar & Grill for the best food in town.
