Post subject: Dogs & Taxis?

Hey does anyone have any suggestions on an EASY way to get your pet to the vet. I have a 30lb terrier mix and it's a pain in the keester getting him to the vet or wherever we need to go. He's registered.. he's clean but cabbies pass us by left and right.. anyone found a better way yet?

Call the taxi company and request a cab and say that you have a small dog - 62580000 is for the gold colored taxis.

If they say no, then call the taxi company and request a cab and don't mention the dog - once the driver is there he'll probably agree, if not, offer him 10rmb.

where do you live? we live in Pudong and I know a taxi driver that used to ride my husband everyday to his work and he always agreed to take my dog (a golden retriever) to the vet. I used to cover the seats with a blanket and it was always fine. And I also asked him to wait for me, he let the meter running, so I payed around 70rmb for one hour.
We don't take him anymore, cause we have a driver now, but if you want, I give you his number, if you can speak chinese...

Hi.. thanks for the suggestions.. I ended up just taking a cab.. got lucky on the first shot (which never happens) My Mandarin is in the very early stages right now so it's sometimes hard to talk to the driver.. but we did okay.
Thanks though!!

Most drivers will be fine with it.

Some people might suggest illegal taxis, but they like to keep their taxis clean.

I really can't see it being a problem with a normal taxi.

Do you have a dog? I have lived here for over a decade and it has always been a problem. The one thing I will say is that it is alot easier now then back in 98........now that was a nightmare!!
