Post subject: Tailors

Rolling Eyes I've read the topics for tailors and I have a few questions:
Where is the fabric market?
Does anyone have a favorite tailor?
Which tailor should be avoided?

Thanks Laughing

If you are willing to spend money (but not as much as other places) on a quality suit I would recommend Tony the Tailor on Chang Le Road.

When I got my suits made he had a special for 2 suits, 2 shirts, and 2 ties for 3999 RMB (i think it was). Not sure if that deal is still around.

I can't advise on fabric market tailors but there should be some decent ones out there. I've had both good and bad experiences with them but for the price I think its worth the gamble.

not sure with tony's as mate had suits from him not long ago and it was delivered in a small paper carrier bag. i was gobsmacked. That speaks volumes i think.

with tailors, i think it important that they must know themselves what it takes to make a piece of clothing or even better if they have the experience. am sure theres plenty of chinese tailors around with years of experience in cutting/putting shirts together. problem is they might just be used to 'chinese' styles no matter how much u emphasise.
