| Post subject: Can't get wireless to connect to ADSL- Help Please! |
I Can't get my router to connect to the ADSL.
I have china telecome ADSL which works fine when I plug it straight into the computer.
I have a DLINK DI 524 router and I have gone into the settings and set to PPPOE and entered my ADSL username and password and set it to always connct. It is connected to the modem and the WAN lights are on when connected.
However when I connect to my router from the computer I can connect but I do not get any connection to the internet.
Can anyone please advise what I am doing wrong or any advise!
Many thanks |

Are you saying when you plug the computer into the router, you can ping the router but that's all ? Your subnet is correct and your gateway is correct ? Your dns settings are correct ? Are you using dhcp or static ip's ? You are not trying to use the Enternet PPPoE software AND the router, right ?

I hate TPLink with a passion. Bought a TPLink external modem to use for faxing. Spent two days fighting with initiation strings before I found out (thru research, not the damned so-called fine manual) that they had butchered the damned thing to be a semi-winmodem that only worked with their crappy winshit driver. External !! With no remarks to that effect anywhere on or in the box ! It wasn't even so much the price of the modem (non-returnable, here is China) as the lost days and hair-pulling. Pissed me off forever.
Anyone want a useless pos external TPLink winmodem ? |

I can access the routers configeration from my computer no problem. Once in I set the settings to DHCP and PPPOE jnot sure about the DNS and subnet settings and as it is all on dynamic, so should I enter a static IP address and if so what should i put in?
It should not be the router itslef as it worked fine when I had it set up in Singapore before i moved here using cable broadband. And the fact I can get into it also shows it is ok, I just cant get it to connect to the ADSL. |

I am having same problem. My boyfriend said it was because the router was an old model . So, a new model router may help.
I also found a post regard old routers. A guy with Vista claims
he fixed the problem by changing the router's MTU to 1500. |
