| Post subject: Where can I get a ferret in SH? |
Preferably in a 'disease infested market', to save cash, but I really want a ferret, so I'm willing to pay more and shop in a store.
Anyone know where I can get one? |

Don't you have a cat? Cats and ferrets generally do not get along. Ferrets are part of the weasel family, someone is going to get hurt and I am thinking it is the cat. Why would you buy an animal from "a disease infested market"? Don't you have any concerns for yourself and others (including animals) around you bringing a potentially sick animal into your home? |

Basically what I meant was, I wanted to buy it from the market where everyone buys their pets, rather than the market rich Mercedes driving Chinese buy their pets.
And my cat is now an 'outdoor cat', so having a ferret wouldn't effect the cat. |

Woaihuan,
Why do you allow your cat outside? Don't you care about your pet? Don't you know that they steal cats in China and sell them to restaurants and ship them to fur farms? Is your cat spayed or neutered? My god................what is wrong with you? |

What a nut.
It's not my choice. We live with my wife's parents and they don't want the cat living inside.
People kill cats on the streets in every country, and people let their cats outside in every country. Chinese let their cats out, Canadians let their cats out. I'm a Canadian in China so why shouldn't I let my cat out?
Plus, we're living in a house in the suburb - not an apartment. Lots of places for the cat to go. |

Dont buy anything from those markets, dont encourage the ruthless breeding of them in **** conditions.
SCAA (try google) can help you find one for free, one which really needs a home. |

Sorry, one dumb question.....if your parents-in-laws do not like the cat indoor, what makes you think you can have the ferret indoor or you are putting it outdoor in a cage? |

I'd rather not use SCAA as they charge 500rmb to adopt a pet... probably about 50x what I would pay in a market for the same pet (where it probably came from). |

Here we go again.........Woaihuan you are constantly giving out the wrong information about SCAA. I have explained this to you already and so have other members of SCAA.....they ask for a donation for two reasons. The first one being that the cats we adopt out if they are older have already been vaccinated, defleaed, dewormed and are spayed or neutered. If you were to bring your cat to the vet and get all of these procedures done it would cost alot more then 500rmb!!! If you cannot afford that all you have to do is speak to one of the ladies and something can be worked out. The other reason is to see if the adopter is actually serious about the responsibility of having a pet. If you cannot afford to give a small donation for a kitten then it is fair to say that you will not look after the animal if it needs medical care, vaccinated or needs to be neutered or spayed ect.
Also there is a rule at SCAA that if you adopt from them that you will keep the cat safe by keeping it indoors.....I am sure you did not like that rule when you inquired........also you never answered the question about spaying or neutering which only lets us believe that you have done neither.........
I would also like you to tell me as a fellow Canadian where in Canada they kill cats for food and skin them alive for their fur. I am not denying that people kill cats in Canada but not for the reasons you stated. Obviously you don't care about the welfare of your cat.
Boomber72, thanks for bringing that very important question up.....about where this individual would keep the ferret. Ferrets smell so my guess is the inlaws would demand he keep it outdoors, probably in a cage.....another great life for another of woaihuan's pets..... |

You sound irresponsible. Why exactly do you want a pet? You dont sound very devoted. If you want something cheap with total disregard for its welfare or the industry that you are perpetuating then you really arent the sort of person that should be keeping an animal. |

Not everyone feeds their cats Purina and teaches them how to **** in a toilet.
It doesn't mean that those who don't won't treat their pets well. |

It's got nothing to do with lavishing the pet in an over the top way. You have already dismissed one of the only organisations I have seen here with a sense of responsibility. You want to buy your animal from a market - regardless of whether you treat your pet well, you are dooming more animals to have poor lives by supporting a ruthless trade. Dont you get that? And you also want to take the cheapest option, not the best one for your pet, which is the wrong attitude to be starting out with. If you can't afford to keep it healthy then you can't afford to have it at all
And also "teaches them to **** in a toilet" - are you saying you dont train you pets? That's pretty unhygienic if you let them **** round your house. |

Woaihuan, that's a really childish comment. You're asking people where to find a pet and people are telling you. Your remarks have insinuated you aren't prepared to do what is needed to own one responsibly. To remark that we should join PETA only further suggests that you are incapable and unprepared to treat an animal ethically. Why are you reacting obnoxiously to people guiding you to do the right thing?
Go get a job as a butcher. |

Please, no one tell this individual where to get a ferret.........for some reason I think if there is one in Shanghai it is probably better off where it is then going to live with this person. |

Jolynne you crack me up. You stereotype the kid and then get up on your moral high horse preaching how nothing he does is good enough, and how everybody should do this or do that. I have never met the kid, nor do I think I ever will. As much BS as he posts, I do sense a hint of sarcasm in some of that. In the future I would suggest you try not to rise to his baiting. You have way too little information to start going all gung ho on him and making assumptions.
woaihuan, I have three ferrets, free to a good home. they are frothing at the mouth, piss and sh1t all over the place, are not trained, and f*ck like rabbits - pm me |

Scotsladdy,
You are way off base here, we have been dealing with this individual for a long time. There is nothing wrong with making a statement that this person cannot look after an animal properly. Furthermore I am not the only person on this forum who feels this way........ |

That's because he is actually still only a child, who contradicts himself in his posts constantly. One minute he's married the next he's inviting people to his wedding in HK. One minute he's living in an apartment with his 'wife' the next with her parents.
I for one don't believe a word he says, he is truly full of malecow effluent.
So he wants a new pet ~ perhaps he is bored with his wife already and is trading her in.
Don't indulge this child, he is living in a fantasy world. |

Have you tried a pet shop? ferrets are not easy to look after, and can give nasty bites. They stink, and are messy, so if your cat is now an 'outdoor' cat, then the ferret is going to be doing the same thing. Why not buy an animal like a fish, that is low maintenance, pretty to look at, and probably won't bother your inlaws? If they are against pets, it is probably not a good idea to even be considering getting one. Animals need a lot of love, care and attention, and I doubt that if they do not like animals, that they are going to change their opinion by being forced into it.
As an animal lover, this is just my opinion. |

Visit the SCAA site to understand more about why you shouldn't be condoning pet shops. |
