I think they should make voting available for non-citizens as well since we all have to live with the result. |

That website is awesome. I was trying to accomplish the same thing without the convenience of the nice Voting Wizard. That is, I was trying to do it following the directions that came from the state and federal governments themselves. It would have taken a lot longer without this link. Now I guess I'll just hope that the ballot arrives in time. |

One of these days, the US Gov't will ge with the times & allow us to simply vote at the consulate. Until then, I guess snail mail will have to do.
If we bring this to the consulate, will they process it there? Or send it back or whatever? I emailed them the same question. I don't need another "oops, you voted DEM and we lost your ballot" problem. |

Piss off, Reggie. This thread has a strict "No Orstraylean" policy, strictly enforced by your American Overlords.
Also to answer my own question, I called the consulate, and they said they WOULD mail in any absentee ballots brought to them. |

For a small service fee you can have my vote. Then you can proudly proclaim that you were sooo close to becoming an American... |

As long as the price is right I'd be keen to take you up on that offer. Also if I get a few hundred million of my closest friends can you offer some kind of bulk discount? |

I wouldn't give out personal details to use a 'voting wizard'
2006 congressional elections. republicans were destroyed by democrats running on a unified platform - ending iraq. now we have a presidential candidate promising the same 2 years later (though he even flip flopped before winning)
the two party system in place in the US is not a democracy anymore. corporations own both sides and what the people want is irrelevant. only if Ron Paul was on the ballot would I go through the trouble of voting from out here |

Any ideas when absentee ballots are supposed to be mailed out? I am a bit skeptical of my podunk county mailing my ballot to china and it actually getting here in time. |

If you go through the process on the link in the first post it gives very specific instructions on what to do if the absentee ballot does not arrive by a certain date. I believe the date it said was October 4. If you do not receive it by then, they give another form you can mail in and use to vote with. |

They should have all of the proper forms at your local Appleby's Cowboy. Yeehaw! Love it or leave it baby!...Right?
If Miss Alaska runner up wins in the fat old man party...? A wet dream vision from his days in Hanoi? What else can explain that one? How out of touch can one collective group be?
Don't worry gang, I'm sure they're going to count all of your votes.
Yee freaking Haw ( My apologies to the extended shout out for my Cowboy friend from....Boston...?) |

Buzzd. . . . i hope you are not referring to me in this post.
First, if applebee's had a voting booth i would definitely vote there. It would be an upgrade from the local precinct headquarters in a garage i voted in before.
Second, wtf do you think i'm from Boston??
California. . baby. . 6th generation farming family.
Lastly, Dude get a life. . who hangs out on ShExpat on a Friday night. |

With all the economic issues/problems the US has if New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg had run I'll fly back (to California) to vote for him.

Wish us Brits had that privilege (voting from abroad). Problem we have is that, though voting from abroad is permitted, they only post voting cards about two weeks before the election. By the time we receive it and send it back, the election is over. Apparently, we cannot vote in embassies or consulates. Unless I am wrong on this? (I am kind of hoping our current sub-prime minister will call an election soon!!) |
