^George. I'm not even sure it is true racism as much as people may be looking at McCain and thinking, "I feel comfortable with him". -u got what I mean? That isn't really racism as much as it is a rejection of something "other" and an acceptance of something familiar.
Whatever. |

I am just sick and tired of seeing the GOP attack excellence and intellect as something evil and wrong. What is this fear of the elite?

Arguably the most brilliant and proven mind being considered for the presidency this late in the game in my lifetime. Most certainly in the top three at least (Nixon, Bill C?). Now let's take a look at what the Repubs. have thrown at us in this department. Reagan, Bush the Elder (I'll give the evil one a pass on this), Jr., and now McC. An absolutely despicable reality.
The big money machine claims Obama's an elitist. Why? Because he eats imported deli cuts, can't bowl, and wears decent suits sans lapel flag pins? McCain on the other hand can't keep track of the number of houses he owns with that freak show of a wife of his, who happens to have more money then God, is still just like the rest of us and one of the guys, or shall I say, one of the good ol' boys.
To paraphrase a brilliant line from Biden: (I wonder who wrote it?)
Every sentence out of McCain and his spokespeoples mouths contains three givens: A noun, a verb, and War Hero.
The real reason Obama has been swiftboated (a lovely verb, brought to you by the Republican party) as an elitist, is because he's one smart dude with an incredibly astonishing track record throughout his entire life. He's simply too smart, and he scares the hell out of the big money.
And njd, if you still haven't figured out who you're voting for? Hurry up and start reading (their personal histories alone should suffice), because it won't be getting any prettier between now and November.
And as for Lifemage's comments. The Repubs. have done their damndest too prove that a total ignoramus can run the big show without sinking the continent, although they're bringing us ominously close. I've got one last remaining ounce of naive idealism that believes Obama might, just might, turn things around. I sure as hell know that we'll be getting nothing of the sort from the two lightweights that he's running against. |

Still feeling the love? Me too.
Here's a fact:
McCain goes after votes. He selects someone to be his Vice President who has absolutely zero qualifications for the job. America announces "HELL Yah, She's even dumber than I am, and she's sexier to boot! YeeeYeeeehaaaaa dawgonnit, we've got ourselves a ticket."
I am wretching due to our ignorance.
Happy September 11th people.
I cry again.

Buzzd - To be honest, I was not a big fan in you earlier posts, but I think we have had good (and some relevant:-) ) debate as of late. Make no mistake, debating is debating...especially political, nothing personal. I just don't like the silly comments. They normally would prob be funny - especially since I still have no idea who I am voting for! I am honestly just sick of the media reporting not only irrelavent (damn I wish they had spell correct on this thing!) and unfactual things! Yes, I have visited both cand. websites and know what they stand for. What I hate about this crap is that they (both sides) never tell you how they are going to get it done. In the past, the media usually provided atleast a little bit of that for us. Different stations reported different things (depending if they were lib or consv), and you can base your decision on that. It seems that those days may be gone.
Am I delusional...maybe too young to remember these types of smear campaigns. I don't remember anything as bad as this. |
